  2. Deb...these childrens book look great: Yoon and the Christmas Mitten caught my eye. I like peppering my adult reads with some kids books, so thanks for this list.

  3. Yoon is a book I ran across when I was a librarian in a school near the multiethnic Houston Medical Center. Yoon has just come to live in the US but is told by her father that their family is not a Christmas family.

  12. The first time I read The Polar Express (or, it was read to me) was in first grade. After the story our teacher gave us all bells that we believed only those who believed in Santa could hear (as the story goes). It might be one of my favorite Christmas memories from school ever. The story seemed so magical at that age. I still love it today.

  15. You would think that I would have at least read How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but I can only say I've seen the cartoon movie. I think I'll add that to my holiday to read list this year.

Looking at all of the wonderful picture books on your list reminds me of a book my dad read to me as a child. I don't remember it's name, though. I only remember that it was about Santa Claus and a bear called T (or something like that). I might have to see if I can find it and add it to my list. Thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory.

  20. Thanks for visiting my blog and following. We have a public library in Colombo (in answer to your question)but its mainly for students and thebooks available are mainly for reference and study. Fiction which is available are only the classics. There is no money to buy modern fiction. Money will have to be kept for students!
