Odds and Ends

MAMA NEEDS SOME NEW SHOES
I did it. Late last night, when I was barely awake enough to type the numbers on my credit card, I went online and ordered a new iPad.

Indulgent. I already have a desktop, a large laptop, a medium-sized (pink) laptop, a mini, a Kindle, an iPhone, and an iPad.

But I love technology the way some women love shoes. And I stick to one pair of shoes.

I'm working on a post about it.

CYBILS ANNOUNCED
Yes, I'm that far behind. The Cybils were announced mid-February. I'm working on a post.

INDIE LIT AWARDS ANNOUNCED
Last Monday, the Indie Lit Awards were announced. I'm working on a post.

ANDIAMO IN ITALIA!
Incredible as it sounds, it looks very promising for a trip to Italy this summer. Mio marito has gotten his passport. I got a 99 cent app for learning Italian. I went to the bookstore last night and got three books on Italy. We are as good as there.

I'm working on a post about it.

BOOK REVIEWS
I have an enormous stack of books I've read and have yet to review. I'm working on a post.

DEWEY'S READ-A-THON
I hope to join for Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon. It will be on Saturday, April 21st. I need to write a post about it.

BLOGGIESTA OLE!
Which all brings me to my final odd (or end): the need to blog. Next weekend is Bloggiesta and I plan to blog and blog and blog.

And get caught up on all of these things.

How about you? Will you be bloggiesta-ing next weekend? I hope that you will and that you will stop in and chat about good books or with blogging tips or about Italy even.

  1. Maybe, just maybe you need to give yourself a break on a few things...and not write a post about everything or write a wrap-up post on everything. Where's the pressure coming from? Certainly not me. :)

As for the iPad, congratulations. Believe me, I am extremely tempted, but since we got a new laptop for Christmas from my parents and an aunt, I'm less tempted than I was.

  4. Italy! That sounds fantastic, I'm sure you'll do some preparatory reading for your trip too. Do you know where you're going to go? Or still in the planning stages? I too know what it's like to be behind on all the posts you plan to write, but it isn't a biggie. Whatever, whenever, and how many you post is just right.

  10. Congrats on the iPad. Lately I've been feeling the same way about technology. That's why I ended up with three ereaders, but for now, I'm satisfied.

Enjoy your iPad and I hope you are feeling better!

  11. I need books like some people need shoes! :-D I'm joining bloggiesta too next week. I have so many posts to write and so many books to read. Yay for Italy! I've been trying to learn Spanish in hopes of being allowed to go on an archaeological dig this December.

Don't pressure yourself to get everything done. Take your time and have a great week.

  12. Don't you need to write a post about something? lol!

Congrats on the iPad! My son just bought one and loves it.

I've always done Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon and BLOGGIESTA, but haven't even thought about it, until now. Strange, I usually see posts about them a few months ahead.

  13. Oh lucky you! I wish I had the nerve to order a new iPad. One of these days! I'm not big on technology...I don't have a fancy phone or a laptop or any of that. But I want an iPad very much and would definitely go for one over shoes!
Good choice and good for you, Deb! Enjoy it!

I hope you go to Italy this summer, what a wonderful trip that will be

I'm looking forward to Dewey's Readathon. As for Bloggiesta, I've never participated but hope to next weekend. I don't know much about it so I'll have to find out what it's all about.

Don't put a lot of pressure on yourself over blog posts. Do the best you can and have fun, We know where to find you :o)

I hope you're enjoying your weekend. (Time for me to zip it and go away! lol )

  14. Hey- at least you won't be one of those people that are like "I really have nothing to talk about today, so let's talk about nothing" (like my last post).

Definitely go to Italy. I went a few years ago and seriously had the time of my life.

  17. My husband got the new iPad last weekend, but I'll be sticking with my iPad2 (Christmas gift to myself, so not even 3 months old) for a while longer. Enjoy your new toy--it may come in useful during Bloggiesta!

  19. I am trying to get my work to buy me an iPad. I have to write documentation on how to use it, yet we have none in the department and I work in Information Technology. Something is wrong with that picture!

  20. Oooh, great pile of books picture!! Mind if I pin it?!

I'm so jealous about your ipad purchase. I know what you mean about fun technology. I get teased, although I have no idea how it could be a problem?!

  21. Yes, we librarians were told that we were in charge of teaching our teachers who to use the new Promethean boards in their classrooms...but we were not given a Promethean board in the library!

    Hear, hear!
