Iconic Paris: Tiny Cars

For this Texan, there is something odd about this picture, taken in Paris in 2010.
Do you know what it is?

Right. There's no traffic.

And when you do see a car, it's not an iconic Texas vehicle
like a honker double-cab Dodge Ram truck.
No. It's a tiny car.

Tiny. So small and cute, you almost want to pet it.

Nothing but tiny cars in Paris.

  1. I'm still laughing from my mental image of petting the tiny car!

  3. I love tiny cars, but that's a bit too tiny for me. My kids are always making jokes about my car. I have a Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback.

    1. My car is probably a bit bigger. Most of the time it's perfect for me.

  4. I saw a SmartCar yesterday with a windup key on the back. Sized to scale. It was hilarious and adorable.

  5. I suppose they'd be quite economical and environmentally friendlier than larger cars.

  6. I'd be scared to death of an accident in one of those little things. Of course I wouldn't need a coffin - I'd basically be IN one!

  7. I wanted to own a Smart Car for so long, but never could quite get myself to do it. My little Prius will have to suffice

  8. Most of the cars we hav eover in the UK & Euope are small by comparrison with those in the US. I had a Classic Mini from when I was 19 till I nearly 60 different ones but it was a alife long love affair with one type car.

  10. Those tiny cars are adorable. But I would be scared of what would happen if I got in an accident.

  11. I love tiny cars! I have a smallish car...and some of my favorites have been Beetles.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS

  12. When I saw the question you posed about the Paris street, I thought, "No pickup trucks!" Guess that's because I was born and raised in Dallas and lived much of my life in Texas. LOVE your photos of the tiny cars. Don't you expect a bunch of clowns to pour out of them?
My Saturday Snapshot post features waterfalls.

  13. I remember noticing how tiny the cars are in many European cities! Don't see many around my parts of Bucks County Pa

    1. Everything is huge here in Texas. I think some of our trucks could literally run over these tiny cars.

  14. Deb, You're right. The cars are small in Paris, but they have to be to get through some of those streets. When we were in France during the spring, we saw some pickup trucks -- small compared to U.S. pickups, but nevertheless they are appearing there. Thanks for playing along with Dreaming of France. I just added a new post today (Aug. 6) if you want to put your link on the new one. Here’s my Dreaming of France meme

  15. I'm not sure I could drive one that tiny, I'd be afraid of taking it on the highway. They're probably practical for Paris, though. My Honda Fit is just perfect for me.

  16. I think it's that way in most of Europe - they just don't have the space for our big American cars!

I myself drive a little car, too - though not quite as tiny as these! Just an old VW convertible (that I love).
