Kid in a Candy Shop: Meeting Celebrities at BookExpo

Everybody who is anybody in the book world was there.

Guys, I met celebrities. And not just celebs us book nerds would recognize.

Mayim Bialik, from Big Bang

Neil Patrick Harris, from How I Met Your Mother

Of course, there were also celebrity authors,
like John Grisham (left) and James Patterson (right)...

...as well as Stephen King (left) and Mary Higgins Clark (right).

I'm always most thrilled to see children's authors, like
Mo Willems (left) and Lemony Snicket (right).
Even when the children's author doesn't seem all that thrilled to see me.

I loved going on a NYC picnic with romance author Jane Green.

It was delightful to meet Olivia, in person (or is that "in pig?")

Captain Underpants was surprisingly warm and genuine. Even without his pants.

I still can't really believe I got an invite to see Hillary Clinton at BookExpo.

I guess I was most surprised to finally locate Waldo.
Was he at BookExpo all along?

Who would you have most liked to have met?

  1. Recognised three of them the rest were lost on me. Who would I like to meet R.E. Fiest for one but one person who I would love to have met was Terry Pratchett who I found out did not live that far from me

  2. I am bound and determined to get to Book Expo this year. Have to say, though, that I am really looking forward to meeting Jordan Sonnenblick and Rich and Sandra Neill Wallace at Kidlitcon in November. And Sue Macy. Basically, there are a ton of authors that are coming, and since it's a smaller conference, I might actually get to talk to them!

  3. Book Expo sounds like so much fun. I'm really interested in reading The Magic Misfits so Neil Patrick Harris is one I would've loved to have met.

  7. I would like to see any of them. I am hopeless with recognizing celebs on the street. Stood right next to Laurence Fishbourne in NYC and my husband was saying look, look and I'm what?
