Books Children Should Know: Great Readalouds

I can't wait to share these with my granddaughter...with my great-nieces and great-nephews...with all children, really.

Here's the list and the why:

Green Eggs and Ham...You can probably learn to read if you just have this book.
A Kiss for Little Bear...Share a kiss and see what happens.
Make a World...Let's learn to draw while we are at it.
Life-Size Zoo Animals...A little nonfiction is great, too.
Because of Winn-Dixie...Everybody loves a dog story.
Half Magic...A coin that will accomplish every wish...but only halfway. I love magic, and half-magic.
Where the Sidewalk Ends...The real wishes and hopes of people.
Harry Potter...Everything we want in a story—adventure, humor, danger, delight.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland...Mysterious and surprising.
The Little Prince...An outsider’s perspective on life.
A Wrinkle in Time...the universe is in danger...can a nerdy girl and her family save it?

What would be on your list?

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists.

  1. Great list! Harry Potter and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are brilliant choices, and I've heard so many good things about A Wrinkle in Time I think I might have to check it out myself.

  3. Harry potter! Totally agree! Should be read by everyone, even me! :) Yep, one of those people who watched all the movies and only read the first book. Shame!

  4. Dr. Seuss made my list too. I loved his books as a kid. I remember my parents reading them to me.

  5. I loved the Little Bear books in my youth, and my childhood nick name comes from Dr. Seuss (Sam I am Green Eggs and Ham -- Green Eggs for short). A Wrinkle in Time is incredible and timeless, and Shel Silverstein has a bunch of amazing work out there. Great list.

  8. Great list. Some of those books are definitely on my "I've got them for my children and I hope they read them" list.
