Book Blogger Hop: Say Hello!

I just had to jump into the Hop.

I'm Old but I feel New. I started blogging (almost) two years ago. I have 75 (amazing!) followers. So, Old.

But I consistently blog just once a week. And I fumble around every time I add a picture or post a link. So, New.

What I am most interested in:  I want to connect with other book bloggers who read more than I do or read more widely than I do. I want to learn from you. I know you are modest, but I also know you are out there.

What do I like to read? The good stories. Fiction. Nonfiction. Travel stories. Children's picture books. A little fantasy. A little sci fi. A mystery now and then.

I like character more than action. I like something that surprises me, but I'm not interested in being shocked just to be shocked. Beautiful words. Happy stories. Redemption. Vision. Meaning.

Please say hello here. I will also seek you out. I will add you to my Reader and/or Follow you.

Follow me here, too. Befriend me at Goodreads. Follow me at Twitter. Befriend me at Facebook

What if you don't think you are this kind of reader?  Say hello anyway. I love to know someone is out there.

  6. We know each other from BGL and already follow each other, so I just stopped by to say hi. My favorite kind of reading has to do more with characters and place than with plot, and I do so like it when the writing is really good. I like fiction, memoirs, travel, sometimes biographies. I put several suggestions on your reading for France, and those are good examples of the kinds of books I like to read -- stories about France, food.... Lately I've read several books about artists, and am getting absorbed that that. Books liks Luncheon of the Boating Party, The Yellow House (about Van Gogh), I am Madame X.

I hopped on over from the Book Blogger Hop!
I too am a fan of character over action AND I'm a huge Peter Paul and Mary fan.

    I am now a follower.

    Take care,

Hi! =) I also found you through the Blog Hop. I've bookmarked your site and will definitely be back.

I agree that the most interesting thing about book blogging is getting to connect with other readers--and I also prefer those who read widely and who can surprise me with the new books they feature. =)

  11. Hi there-I found you in the blog hop. :) I love your "voice" and I agree with you that I don't like to be shocked for the sake of shocking. I like to find gems of insight that mull around in my head long after I've read the book.

  16. Thanks for visiting Rose City Reader and signing up as a follower. I did the same for your blog.

I tend to like story over ideas in my books. Not necessarily big adventures, or shocks just for shock's sake, but I like things to happen. And I think that meaningful literature can also have a plot.

  17. Hello-- Thanks for following Mrs. BG and I'm following your blog as well. Always great to meet another library lover. I read all kinds of books. Love books with well written memorable characters but I also love my action thrillers. I'm a bit of a tomboy.

  18. Hello there, I'm glad I found your blog as I feel the same as you. I'm rather newish to the scene (less than three months) and I feel like I'm fumbling around, at least technologically wise. I feel silly because I can't change date fonts as yet, but I'm learning.

I read anything I can get my hands on and whatever I'm in the mood for.

    Have a great reading week!

  25. Hello! I just found your blog on the blog hop. It is wonderful! If you are going to France (I saw from an earlier post) and enjoy historical fiction--I am a historical fiction author so am a bit biased-- try Sandra Gulland's marvelous 'Josephine B' trilogy. They are fantastic!

  26. I enjoy your blog...it is in my reader! I've been blogging for a few years now but my blog is very simple and I only have the chance to post a few times a week at most! The blogging community is wonderful and big enough for all of us!
