Critters

We are beginning week six as master naturalist interns, and so far we have been on field trips to learn about insects, plants, and reptiles.

We have now seen dragonflies, frogs, spiders, beetles, cranes, snakes, and many, many, many mosquitoes.

I think I expected these critters. I did not expect to see so many alligators. So far, I have seen nine alligators. I held three of them.

The gator in the photo looks small, but he is over six feet long.

  1. Deb,

Yikes, no thank you I don't want to hold this kind of critter! In fact, I prefer to stay far, far away from them. Every so often we read where someone falls victim to a later accidentally or purposefully getting too close. Thanks for visiting today. Have a happy WW!

  4. Alligators are fascinating and frightening. We go fishing up in the delta and see them everywhere. What's scary is when the are close to the boat and sink out of sight!

  5. I've been spending a lot of time watching out for rattlesnakes on our road trip through the southwest. I think I'd rather come across one of those rather than an alligator!

  7. Alligators?! That's a little scary (says the Californian). The course you're doing sounds so great.

  8. Alligators are too scary for me to study up close, but they are definitely amazing creatures. Thanks for sharing, and here are MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOTS
