(Mostly) Bookish Costumes

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

  1. Oh nice! I don't think I ever did a bookish costume growing up. I have dressed like Stephanie Garber characters at various events of Stephanie's though! Lol. Your Madeline is probably my favorite! I remember loving the stories and I had a plush doll of Madeline too! Still do too, hoping to have her on a shelf once I get my personal library setup!

  2. Looks like everyone is having a good time and letting their creative impulses lend a hand. I’ll have to ponder who I might wish to look like, but I think I would look good dressed in Thoreauean garb. It could be called “Wrinkles on wrinkles.”

    1. Thoreau would be a worthy character to choose for Halloween.

  4. I’ve already started to wear my witch hat this year. AND I have a huge bowl of treats ready, including enough to eat some every day until the holiday. Our neighborhood is full of activity.

  15. So much fun in these pics! And creativity! Bet the kids (and adults) loved it. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful memories. I've never dressed up as a bookish character. I would love to dress up as Violet Crawley from Downton Abbey though. A good excuse to wear a great hat!

    2. No, just a cowgirl. It is a non-book costume for Go Texan Day, a day we celebrate here at the start of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
