Library Addicti...excuse me...Habits Meme

Library Habits Meme:

(1) If you don’t frequent your local library, why not?

I frequent. Frequently.

(2) If you do visit the library, how often do you go?

Daily, at times.

(3) Do you have a favorite section that you always head to first, or do you just randomly peruse the shelves?

The checkout desk. I'm picking up books I'd placed on hold.

I always love to look through New Books, too.

(4) How many books are you allowed to check out at one time? Do you take advantage of this?

No limit. I wouldn't say I take advantage of this, but I've been known to bring my little red wagon along with me.

I've heard talk the powers that be are considering setting a limit due to a "certain patron." No names, please.

(5) How long are you allowed to have the books checked out?

Two lovely weeks.

(6) How many times are you allowed to renew your check-outs, if at all?

Two times for a total of six weeks.

(7) What do you love best about your particular library?

Beautiful mural on front. The books. And the books.

(8) What is one thing you wish your library did differently?

Open a coffee shop. Then I would never have to leave.

(9) Do you request your books via an online catalogue, or through the librarian at your branch?

Online.

10) Have you ever chosen a book on impulse (from the online catalogue OR the shelves) and had it turn out to be totally amazing? If so, what book was it, and why did you love it?

Often. I remember Material World. I didn't want to turn it back in.

Wait...you didn't ask my favorite question....How many library cards do I have? Let's see....my county, of course...two neighboring counties...and five city libraries...How many is that? Well, let's just say that I have more library cards than credit cards and leave it at that.

  1. The coffee shop in my library (not actually my library but if they want to give it to me I wouldn't say no) is terrible. Actually, it's not a coffee shop more sandwich bar for some reason. UGH.

I think most of my animosity comes from the fact that it's just rubbish, rubbish food, rubbish prices.

We don't have anything like that with the library cards; it's one card for every library in the country. Also, it's all computerised so often I don't need my card with me.

  2. So what're you gonna do when they close for repairs?

  3. Don't talk about it....I can't bear to think about it....

  4. Technically, I have immediate access to 83 libraries in my county and two adjacent counties.

We also can request books through ILL from anywhere in the world. It takes a little longer to get these books, however.

  5. What an interesting meme! I think I might have to steal this.

I only have one library card, but it's more than twenty years old now. My mother had to sign my name on it, since I was too young to write when I got it.

  6. I used to carry all my children's library cards in my purse. When I hit the limit on one card I could always pull out another. Now I just have one card. Which is okay because they dropped the limit. If I lived in a big city with more than one library I know I would need a card for each. Sounds confusing. Better stay in a small town.

  7. Before I found the Internet, I thought I was the only Library Nerd. Happily, now I find, I just one of many.

  8. Another library nerd here! I actually cohost a weekly Library Loot meme where people can share the books they get from their library each week. Do you mind if we use this meme for one of our posts in the next couple of weeks?

  9. Feel free to steal away. It is the nature of blogging to share the good stuff.
