This is my 219th Top Ten Tuesday post. That seems pretty amazing to me. Top Ten is one of my favorite memes. The prompt each week gets me to thinking about my reading in a new way. I love the process of writing each post, and I love to read through the posts of others linked each week to the Top Ten prompt.
Here, then, are My Top Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics from the Past Five Years:
My first Top Ten Tuesday. August 2010.
Ironically, I've now read all of the books on this list.
September 2010.
Czechoslovakia. And J'aime. And zephyr.
I love reading the list of words other people love.
October 2010.
No vampires for me.
Or books on quantum mechanics.
November 2010.
Yes, it's my name, but it's still unfortunate.
February 2011.
Is Babar not a lovely name?
November 2011.
Oh how I loathed A Prayer for Owen Meany.
Don't hate me.
February 2012.
Discworld would work for lots of book-haters, I think.
September 2010, May 2012, and April 2015.
I love quotes so much I've listed my favorites several times.
October 2014.
I'd like to do another version of this one...
"Top Ten Book Places I'd Like to Visit"
May 2015.
Have I ever met some great authors?!
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
What a great tribute to TTT. I remember some of these posts. Others seem to be new to me. How great that you've read all those books you hadn't read in 2010. The link to your top ten words won't work for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Louise! I don't think there is any easier way to start writing than to begin with a list.
ReplyDeleteAnd, oops! I think I have corrected the link for top ten words.
I really enjoy your take on each week's top ten list. So creative! I'm liking to participate off and on. Seem to be off right now, but I suspect I'll be on at some point. I do love reading what others have shared, based on the topic.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to read others' lists.
DeleteI remember really wanting to do the "top 10 words I love" list but was having difficulty coming up with 10 words for some reason, lol! Great list :)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
I have actually made many of these lists in my journal entries in the past. I'm always writing down words I love. There is a great meme that is just about cool words called Wondrous Words. It's on Wednesday.
DeleteYou were able to cull your list down to ten? I kept going and couldn't stop myself until sixteen. What a fun opportunity to go back and take a look at my past posts. As per usual I am not only impressed by your list but by the way you present the list.
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite TTT posts
I just reread the list of books you abhor and had a good chuckle. I can't remember if I ever did that post. I'll have to remember it for the next REWIND week. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI really like the Top 10 names to name a child. I personally like Babar the best. It's been great seeing some older lists.
ReplyDeleteOh, man! I wish I'd been around for some of these! I might have to do the Top Ten Favorite Words one just for fun!
ReplyDeleteYou must save some of these items for a free choice week.
DeleteI loved the quotes from books and places books made me want to visit topics, too. I actually did name my son after a characetr from a book. Seth from Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (I'm sure he's glad his name isn't Babar, lol). Great list! PS - I hope you love The Ice-Cream Cone Coot as much as I do!

Good to know children are receiving some solid book character names!
DeleteWasn't blogging yet, but (Nearly) Ten Unfortunate Character Names sounds like a fun topic! I think I put together some kind of favorite/memorable character name topic, but this one seems like it'd be more fun. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love looking over your lists! You have done some fun ones.;)
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! I'd like to the character names and words topic!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I just started participating in TTT a few months ago so a lot of these I've yet to tackle but I'm going to use for the next free one. I loved dong the one about our favorite quotes. Here's my TTT: http://mountainrhinestones.blogspot.com/2015/06/top-ten-tuesday-16.html
ReplyDeleteOOoh nice picks! I remember a few of these myself!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Great post! I really like the ones you've picked. I like the ones about the kids names and the books I'd give to someone who says they don't like to read lol. I can just imagine doing it! Thank you for visiting my blog :D
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Amy x
I Love The Topics You've Chosen, Especially Top Ten Characters I'd Name My Children After & Top Ten Words I Love.
ReplyDeleteToo funny that we both think the same of our name. LOL I love this meme, but I have never taken part. Maybe I should. I love your lists.
ReplyDeleteMy mother meant well.
DeleteI love the Top Ten Words and Top Ten Characters to Name Kids After lists! They're both ones I've seen around today and really enjoyed!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if many people really choose to name their children after book characters....
DeleteI've done a couple of these, but not many as I'm fairly new to TTT. I really want to do the characters to name kids after list, maybe I will the next time we have a freebie week. I chose to pick a topic from the archives this week as I haven't been doing TTT long enough to do this list, I did top ten favourite fictional couples. Check it out if you want:

I didn't get to do the Top Ten Words I Love but I wish I did sounds like it would have been so much fun! Great list. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your link, happy summer reading!
ReplyDeleteLet me encourage you to read (reread) God Went to Beauty School. I was in charge of doing a devotional at a church group I was part of and I forgot to prepare anything ahead of time but had the book in my purse so I pulled it out and read one of the poems. Everyone loved it. Not the deepest devotional anyone had heard before, but very fun. After the meeting a man on the committee asked if he could borrow the book for the next meeting he was hosting tomorrow. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI will! I'll add it to my wish list right now.
DeleteWow, didn't realize Top 10 had been around that long! :)
ReplyDeleteFive years is an eternity in the blogosphere.
DeleteFun lists! I feel the same way about books set in Japan. Of course, the Japanese probably feel that way about books set in the US.
ReplyDeleteIndubitably!
DeleteWell, now I want to go through and read all these posts, because they sound really funny! Babar for your child, and Quantum Physics books... yeah, I need to check out your past lists ;) Also- 219!!?!? MY GOODNESS! That is impressive! I have never counted mine, but... I probably have no more than 60! Love your choices, off to look at some of these now :)
ReplyDeleteShannon @ It Starts At Midnight
Yes, 219 does sound a little...well...obsessive?
DeleteThere has definitely been some very interesting Top Ten Tuesday topics over the years, hopefully some of them will come back around again! Wonderful list!
ReplyDeleteFantastic list! And great answers to them! :-D
ReplyDeleteyou think like an artists! I like your categories:):) Thanks for commenting on my blog. Oh, before I forget, why is the name Debbie unfortunate?
ReplyDeleteI think Debbie sounds like a silly girl. I wish I had a bolder name.
DeleteI like your top ten places you've visited because of books. They are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLooooove quotes! and YES! Top Ten Characters I'd Name My Children After - you can tell you really love a character when you start planning this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of lists! There are some in here that I think came before I started linking up, and I'm going to have to remember them for the next time we get to pick our own topic!
ReplyDeleteRead every part of this post! I couldn't leave without letting you know that I HIGHLY recommend the book 11/22/63 by Stephen King which isn't horror at all, but my favourite genre; timetravel. it is about a man who goes back in time to prevent the assassination of JFK, and the portal to the past is via a streamline diner. Love, love, LOVE this book!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
