Long ago, on the wild and windy isle of Berk, a  smallish Viking with a longish name stood up to his  ankles in snow.  Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, the  Hope and Heir to the Tribe of the Hairy Hooligans,  had been feeling slightly sick ever since he woke up  that morning.

The boys were hanging about the village gates,  taking the opportunity to show off the dragons that  they had caught. Hiccup had tried to walk through  without being noticed, but Snotlout had stopped him.  ‘Let’ s see what pathetic creature Hiccup has  got, ’ said Snotlout, and took off the lid.  ‘Oh, this is BRILLIANT – look at it!’ said  Snotlout, when he finally got his breath back from  laughing.

  8. I've read all the Dragon books, and wish they would make a movie/animated movie/whatever as per the books rather than the ridiculous teenage stuff!

  9. The Dragon book sounds wonderful, I rather think I'd like Hiccup.

I've saved a book after it got wet, but once it burns, it's gone.

  10. The narrator of this series on audio is David Tennant who is one of my favorite audio book narrators (and actors). It was a lot of fun. My son absolutely adored the movies when he was younger.

  11. Considering how much I enjoy children's fiction, I'm surprised that I've never read this one. I will have to check it out and read it with or to my grandkids. I left a book out in the rain once and was devastated. Any destruction of a book is terrible.
