Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

  1. Nice selection of books here! I have to say they are all new to me ones but glad you read so many that you enjoyed! That's always a plus!

  2. I enjoyed “The Backyard Bird Chronicles” but it would not have made my top 10.

  3. Over the years I’ve read seven of your selections, and should read some of the others. Very good list!

  4. What a list! I'm so with you on the Mantel books -- they are fascinating and so beautifully written. A good year for you! And lots of things to add to my list!

  5. I'm going to try Lonesome Dove this year! Tried Mantel's Wolf Hall and backed away from it. It doesn't help that I'm more of a Thomas More man. ;-)

  6. Roots is amazing, isn't it: it was in my top ten for sure the year I read it.

  7. I have Hilary Mantel on my TBR and I need to add Lonesome Dove. I've seen so many wonderful reviews for it.

  10. I need to go back to I Contain Multitudes. I think I must have picked it up when I was going through a spell of health anxiety and put it down for too long, but I have another one of his books on my best of list for last year.

  12. Adding I Contain Multitudes and Finger Exercises for Poets to my TBR. How can it be only January 6th and I already feel behind on this year's reading? Erg!

  14. Nice list! I haven't read any of them, but will see if some might fit on my TBR. It's pretty big - ha!

  15. You are such an avid reader. I did enjoy The Enchanted April and then I did watch the movie after that as well. I fell by the wayside with Lonesome Dove.

  16. That's a great list. I've actually read four of your fiction and two of your nonfiction "bests." I had a slow reading year in 2025 - so many distractions. I hope to do better in 2026.

  19. Happy New Year! I have not read any of these, but I am not surprised to see a book about birds as one of your favorite nonfiction reads. Have a wonderful week!

  23. Lots of great books on your list, Deb. This will be the year I FINALLY read The Day the World Came to Town.

  24. You just added 3 books to my wishlist!

  25. I really hope I can read some more nonfiction in 2026 so that I can have a nonfiction favourites list at the end of the year. The Enchanted April also made my top ten list for the year!

  26. I have not read a single one of these except The Color of Magic, but I have a couple of them on my TBR. I've heard so many people praising Lonesome Dove and I really want to read The Day the World Came to Town. What a great selection of books! Happy 2026, Deb!
