What is the Sunday Salon?
The Sunday Salon is a place to share what we have been doing during the week and to link up. It's a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on.
I haven't had a lot of time for reading since we had guests this week, but I did finish a celebrity memoir and an audiobook.
What I Read Last Week:
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (Memoir)
The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis (Satire)
What I'm Reading Now:
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Fiction)
Theo of Golden by Allen Levi (Fiction)
On the Banks of Plum Creek by Laura Ingalls Wilder (Children's)
The Adventures of Cipollino by Gianni Rodari (Picture Book)
I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
We finally took down our Christmas tree.
It was fun to look at the ornaments as we packed them away,
including this ornament from our first Christmas together, 47 years ago.
Good Thing #2:
My dad celebrated his 99th birthday!
Good Thing #3:
Outings to the park and visits to the library and a trip to Galveston---
we loved spending time with Bailey and Lucy.
I hope you will join the linkup for Sunday Salon below.

Happy birthday to your Dad! Your week sounds great.

Happy birthday to your dad. He looks terrific. Hope he makes it to a hundred.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post, Deb! A very Happy Birthday to your Dad. Amazing! And very nice that you had Bailey and Lucy with you this week. Sweet picture of them on the teeter-totter (is it still called that? ha!). Hope you have a good week and some good reading!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Dad - he continues to look amazing and I hope he stays healthy. Lucy sounds like someone we all need in our lives!
ReplyDeleteI just love Lucy's attitude! And Happy Birthday to your dad, Deb. Cherish those moments -- and then get a good nap now that the girls have left!
ReplyDeleteI think Lucy will be a positive person her entire life, and that's a good thing. Your dad is rocking it with his birthday cake - good for him. Wow, 99.
ReplyDeleteA belated happy birthday to your dad. He looks great - not a day over eighty! And I love that you still have that ornament from your first Christmas as a bride. I'm afraid mine have been lost or destroyed over the years.
ReplyDeleteI read "The Screwtape Letters" back in 2015 and didn't care for it much. I'll be interested to learn what you think of it.
Happy Birthday to your dad, that's good going!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blessing to be able to celebrate your dad's 99th birthday!! Yay for family time and Lucy sounds like the sweetest! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteDear Deb, Happy Birthday to your dad!!! What a lovely post!
ReplyDeleteYour dad looks amazing! Happy 99th to him. What a joy to celebrate such a long-lived life. I love looking back at all of my Christmas ornaments as I pack them away for another year. I have a couple that were given to me as a baby or toddler, so they're close to 64 years old. Having a December birthday, my godmother gave me ornaments every year, so I have a lovely collection.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad.
ReplyDeleteLucy sounds like such a sweetheart and happy birthday to your dad! This was my first week back to regular life and I got more reading done than I expected which made me happy. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad! Wow, 99 years. What's his secret? And that ornament is 47 years old at least? I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad! 99 - wow!! I think winter's the perfect time to tackle some Russian literature, so Brothers Karamazov feels right. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your dad, Deb! It sounds like you had a nice visit with your granddaughter and great granddaughter. I remember when my daughter would make similar comments as your great granddaughter. :-) I seem to be adding memoirs to my TBR right and left. I've heard really great things about I'm Glad My Mom Died and am glad to see you liked it' One of these days I would like to go back and revisit Fyodor Dostoevsky's work. His name keeps coming up again and again these days. My Christmas decorations are still up. We put them up late this year so I'm using that as my excuse. But really it's just that I haven't had the injury to start--or I can blame my husband who hasn't brought in the bins yet where we store them. ;-) I hope you have a good week, Deb.
ReplyDeleteLucy sounds like a lovely person to spend time with!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your dad's 99th birthday with us. That is so wonderful.
The Screwtape Letters is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI wish your father a blessed and beautiful year.
