Dewey and I go way back. Way, way back.
I became a blogger in June of 2008, and I participated in my first readathon later that month. I read eight books, all BookCrossing books, and then I gave them away after the readathon.
I participated every year, at least once a year, until 2021. I only participated one time, briefly, since then.
I think this will be my 30th readathon!
I learned this morning that the next readathon is next weekend, April 18-19, 2026. Yay! We will start reading at 7 am Central Time April 18th, and end at 7 am April 19th. The goal is to try to read for twenty-four hours straight.
I shall do Dewey's up big this year:
1. I will compile a stack of books to read for twenty-four hours (or as long as I can until I fall asleep).
2. I will stock up on some fun snacks and drinks for the 'thon.
3. I will create a template on Canva to keep track of the books I read.
4. I will use one of the two Bingo boards posted on FB for Dewey.
5. I will have fun reading!
Some memorable readathons from the past:
My First Readathon...Readathon Lite...A Readathon with a New York, New York Theme...Readathon with a Sidekick, My 18-Month Old Granddaughter, Annie
To inspire me:
So, what do you think?
Will you join in for the readathon this year?

Sadly, I have neither the time nor the inclination to read for twenty-four hours.
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously intense -- and no way I could pull it off!
ReplyDeleteI have been far less consistent than you in my Dewey Read-a-thon participation. I love that we are continuing her legacy! I will participate this year so thank you for the heads up about it.
ReplyDeleteDear Deb, thank you so much for sharing your reading. You are such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the readathon. I hope you get lots of good books read.
ReplyDeleteI remember Dewey from those early days, and even managed to participate a few years - but I can’t imagine 24 hours of straight reading. Heck, I tend to fall asleep after thirty minutes sometimes. LOL I’m tempted, but I know myself better than I used to. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI hate being “anonymous.
DeleteWow! Hadn't thought about that readathon for a long time. Glad you are participating. I've never been able to read for 24-hours, but good for you. I'll be going to one of our local libraries semi-annual 'friends' book sale on Friday. I love those and am really looking forward to it. One never knows what treasures might be there. Have a good weekend reading!
ReplyDeleteI did my first Dewey readathon in 2009. Looking at my post brought back some nice memories of bloggers who have left blogging for one reason or another. Other than the 2009 event, I've only participated in two others (2010 and 2012). I hope you have fun this year. My husband has a book event at our library, so I won't participate this year.
ReplyDeleteWow.. If I had no kids and could nap the next day maybe but my current life doesn't not allow for a readathon.
ReplyDeleteI think this is what I need. I've never done a Dewey 24-hour Readathon. I've done my own version of readathon in the past but I've never tried to read for 24 hours straight. I'm in.
ReplyDeleteWork prevents me, but I hope you have a great time.
