What is the Sunday Salon?
The Sunday Salon is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.
I saw a play, Little Women, at the college in my town. We heard our nephew play guitar and sing with his group, Shades of Gray. I went to see the movie, Project Hail Mary, with friends. A group of us enjoyed lunch together. I volunteered at Spring Fling, assisting visitors who came to see birds flying in for spring migration at the bird sanctuary at Quintana Beach. I went to my class on Emily Dickinson in Galveston. I went to Barre class and I went to swim class. I'm doing Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon this weekend. And I read five books and wrote five blog posts. Busy week!
What I Read Last Week:
They Called Us Enemy by George Takei (Memoir)
Not the End of the World by Hannah Ritchie (Nonfiction)
The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh (Fiction)
Agnes Aubert's Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett (Fantasy)
Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis (Science Fiction)
What I'm Reading Now:
Hannah Coulter by Wendell Berry (Novel)
The Book of Birds: A Field Guide to Wonder and Loss by Robert Macfarlane (Nonfiction)
The Temporary European: Lessons and Confessions of a Professional Traveler by Cameron Hewitt (Travel)
The Happiness Files: Insights on Work and Life by Arthur C. Brooks (Happiness)
What I Posted Last Week Here at Readerbuzz:

I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
Project Hail Mary was so much fun.
I wasn't expecting that.
Good Thing #2:
The play at our town's college,
Little Women, was
a musical.
Good Thing #3:
It was delightful to hear my nephew (blue shirt)
play and sing with his group,
Shades of Gray.

That was a busy week! I can't believe you managed to read 5 books as well. What did you think of Project Hail Mary?
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing, Deb. Lots of reading. The George Takei one looks like a book I would enjoy reading.
ReplyDeleteI need to come with you to the class on Emily Dickinson. She has never seemed that great to me - and I realize I am in the minority.
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie version of project hail mary. SO GOOD. Also really enjoyed the boo, which I listened to in audio form. Sounds like you had a lot of good reading and good times this week.
ReplyDeleteBusy indeed, but it sounds like a great week! Glad to hear you enjoyed Project Hail Mary. I’m looking forward to seeing it at some point.
ReplyDeleteIn my mind, I see “Project Hail Mary” and the real astronauts’ trip around the moon as two halves of the same event. Silly me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
You did have a busy week! I want to see Project Hail Mary in the theatres. I didn’t know about The Temporary European and will try and find it at the library. Have a great week Deb.
ReplyDeleteGood grief! Did you get to sleep at all? That's a busy week but it sounds like a fun one!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a busy week for you, Deb. Glad you are back in the groove of things you like to do. Hope this next week is just as good!
ReplyDeleteI've finished four books so far on my 24-hour readathon and I've started Moby Dick with a good beginning of 100 pages. Now I am perusing two books from my church library I've been asked to look over. One is very good so far: For Such a Time As This: An Emergency Devotional. I need to take a moment to get my Sunday Salon up and running but for now more reading....
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to see Project Hail Mary. I've heard so many good things about it, but I haven't had a chance yet. Hope you have a great week!

ReplyDeleteHi anon, on the principle that if this isn't spam it's a serious matter, so I'd rather treat it as serious: it's tough to offer you meaningful help in a context like this, but I hope you're going to be alright, and that right now you have someone you can reach out to. If there's something that relatively anonymous strangers on the internet can do, I hope you can let us know.
DeleteSounds like you had a good week.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realised it was the 24 hour readathon this weekend! Somehow I fell out of participating, but I hope you have fun participating as much/little as you have inclination for!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was a busy week indeed. I think you are due for a bit of rest this weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a lot on your plate and all of it was fun stuff.
ReplyDeleteWow! I got tired just reading what you did during the week! Glad you had such a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a full and fulfilling week you had! It all sounds so wonderful. I was wary about Project Hail Mary, but everyone is saying it's so well done that I may have to see it.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great week you have full of good times and fine reading. My husband and I had been talking about George Takei’s book a few days ago. He wants to read it, he’s a real history buff. I am not sure if it’s for me, but if he has it, I can give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful week.
