ReplyDeleteThe three musketeers... I really want to re-read this one. I loved it soooo much when I was a teen. I'm pretty sure I'd see even more in it now that I'm (supposed to be) a grown up. (Sorry for my weird english, by the way...)
ReplyDeleteI had trouble compiling my list too, but I have to say that The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake would be on my least favorites of 2010.
ReplyDeleteMajor Pettigrew's Last Stand and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks are on my list as well.
Love all the lists, but "brilliant books I'm not cool enough to appreciate" made me laugh the most.
ReplyDeleteOooh, someone else who read Logicomix?! I liked how the book changed through narratives and found all of that to be rather meta. *But* coming from a background with very little math (philosophy and practice) I don't think that I swooned as much as I should have. Bertrand's life was pretty interesting and I think that I'd like to read a biography of more depth in the future. Logicomix was a great primer though.

Demitria, I try to set goals, but I usually enjoy reading the books that are chosen randomly.

I have so much trouble coming up with these lists when I read just 50 books, so how you can do it by reading 255 astonishes me. Congrats! It's great to see that you've read so many that you enjoyed.

ReplyDeleteI agree, Sarah's Key was much overrated. I thought it had a lot of potential at the beginning, but was far too predictable. And a little weird.
I am envious of the way you read, I want to read The Happiness Project badly..

ReplyDeleteSuch great lists Debbie. I'm so pleased and surprised to see Amazon Adventure make your top 10. I'll have to try and schedule that for the second half of the year if I remember- I know that I have my old copy lurking in a box in the cupboard. I remember devouring the whole series, but don't really remember much about them. I'm intrigued about Skellig too.
