Today's Featured Book:

Three Days in June: A Novel

by Anne Tyler

Genre: Fiction

Published: February 11, 2025

Page Count: 156 pages

Summary:

Gail Baines is having a bad day. To start, she loses her job—or quits, depending on whom you ask. Tomorrow her daughter, Debbie, is getting married, and she hasn’t even been invited to the spa day organized by the mother of the groom. Then, Gail’s ex-husband, Max, arrives unannounced on her doorstep, carrying a cat, without a place to stay, and without even a suit.

But the true crisis lands when Debbie shares with her parents a secret she has just learned about her husband to be. It will not only throw the wedding into question but also stir up Gail and Max’s past.

"But this pie," Rupert went on, "had, I don't know, something fluffy beaten into it, whipped cream or something, so that it wasn't even orange anymore but more like, let's say, beige, and I said to Sophie, I said, 'She wouldn't go to all that trouble if she was just some casual date coming for a free meal. Mark my words, I said."

Happy day! A new Anne Tyler! I got to book club at 5:50 pm Tuesday night, forgetting that book club doesn't start at 6, but at 6:30, but I checked out this brand new book, and sat down and got thirty pages in before people started to arrive. Reading Anne Tyler is always a delight.

Update: I finished this novel Wednesday. A perfect book. Here's my review: Three Days in June.

The purpose of THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, and befriend other bloggers. THE BOOK BLOGGER HOP is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer

February 21st - 27th - Do you belong to a book club? If so, how many members do you have? How long has it been going on? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Review)

I currently belong to three.

One is for my naturalist group, and we read and discuss books about nature.

One I was just invited to join in January, so it's very new, but they have ten long-time members, all at least five and some twenty years older than me.

Left, Library book club picture. Right, cake I made to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

The third is the book club my friend started at our town's library fifteen years ago. We have read some fantastic books over the years. Here's the list, if you are interested.
