I am happy you joined us here at the Sunday Salon.
What is the Sunday Salon?
The Sunday Salon is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.
What I Read Last Week:
Mark Twain by Ron Chernow (biography)
What I'm Reading Now:
The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang (Fantasy)
I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
We had a blast at the water park.
Good Thing #2:
I roller skated with the grandkids
for the first time in thirty years.
Fun!
Good Thing #3:
We loved seeing the Fantastic Four movie
together.
Roller skating - very brave. I don't think I've ever done it! Would be interested to learn a bit more about Mark Twain.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a blast with the grandkids! Roller-skating grandma, there is nothing cooler than that! Your review of Mark Twain is intriguing. He sounds like a man who in many ways matured toward empathy. I have to admire that. So many don’t. This is going on the TBR list.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a fantastic (but tiring) week, LOL! I have not been on roller skates in years, but I loved them as a kid.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun-filled holiday you had! I need to go skating again (ice not roller). Have a great weekend Deb!
ReplyDeleteYou were busy in East Texas! Looks like great fun!
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed a fun grandmother. I could enjoy the waterpark and slides, but I think my roller skating days are over. Used to really enjoy it, but no, no, no. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat water park is hilarious / love the pics. Good job on the roller skates too! I just picked up the Twain book from the library -- ha it weighs quite a bit! But likely it will have to go back to the library before I can get to it. I think I'd need to buy that one in order to read the whole thing. It would take me awhile. Enjoy the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteIf they gave out an award for most fun Grandma, you would win in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteI used to love skating. I don't do it anymore. I would probably fall and break something. The water park looks fun.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of you on roller skates brought back memories of the time I broke my left wrist when I fell while roller skating when I was twelve. Not a pleasant experience. I'm sure your grandchildren think of you as a fun grandmother and that is a great thing. Those water park pictures are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI DMed you on Facebook, if you send me your address I will send you a Margaret Atwood stamp!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Jackie!
DeleteI'm impressed that you put on roller skates. I did that when I was younger, but it's been over forty years for me. I'd be afraid of falling, now.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful visit with the grandkids. I used to love to roller skate, but not sure if I would try it now. It has to be almost 50 years since the last time.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to go skating. What a fun time last week, I hope you get to go again soon.
ReplyDeleteI love your 3 Things! I loved roller skating when I was growing up. Our rink was United Skates Of America. My friend got ice skates and so I wanted some. I told my dad and he said "if you can borrow someones skates and show me you can do it I'll buy you a pair". I borrowed my best friends skates and had no problem skating so he bought me a pair that day. He was just afraid that I'd get hurt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous week with the grands! They keep us young.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have another great week.
Sounds like you had a busy and fun week! Hope you have a great week this week too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy, but fun week with the grandkids! My daughter is back home in East Texas after spending the summer in Montana. I may go out there in October. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful week with rollerskating and waterpark visit. Lovely photos from the waterpark. How are you getting on with Poppy War? I've often considered giving it a try.
ReplyDeleteBravo for skating with the grandkids. I gave up ice skating a few years ago. A fall on aging bones hurts!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a very fun week, but I bet you're tired out now?!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I wish I could roller skate! It seems so fun! I can’t even ice skate. Haha.

Sounds like a great visit! Here's my Sunday post: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2025/08/17/sunday-post-cats-dogs-and-celebrations/
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - you are intrepid! Roller-skating after such a long time sounds scary - and I love how you went down the water chute wearing your sunglasses - how cool:)). Glad your stay was so much fun and hope the coming week gives you a chance to put your feet up a bit, Deb.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome time with the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteA water park AND roller skating - what a week!
ReplyDeleteIt makes me so happy to see all the fun things you did with the grandkids! Waterpark, roller skating, and the Fantastic Four movie!! That's some wonderful core memories for the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteI love board games and wish I played more often with friends. I realize I can remedy that! Some of my favorite memories from when I was young involve rollerskating; how fun that. you are doing it with your grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a fantastic time!

I can't remember the last time I roller skated. Looks like you had fun.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Fun week.
ReplyDeleteMy Daddy had an older Mark Twain biography in his library, which I now have. My friend and I read The Poppy War Books 1 and 2, which I surprisingly enjoyed considering fantasy is not my preferred genre. I read it via audio.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your had fun at the water park, roller skating and at the movies! Yay, good for all of you!
Oh, how fun!! Looks like you had a fabulous time with the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteI've been joining up with the Sunday Post for years, but for some reason I haven't joined the Sunday Salon - changing that this week and going forward!!

Loved your three things! It has been at least 30 years since I roller skated. I'm glad you had a great time with the kids. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had an amazing time, Deb! Enjoy your reading.

Your visit with the grandkids sounds wonderful. Lots of memory building! That water park looks like a blast! I'm afraid if I got on rollerskates, I'd break either my arm or back. It's been FOREVER! Maybe when my daughter was in Brownies way, way back in the late 1980s. I'm looking forward to watching The Fantastic Four when it starts streaming. We love those type of movies.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!! Wow, I haven't been on rollerskates in 30+ years either, but I used to love it. My Friday night hang-out at the roller rink as a young teen :) The Mark Twain books sounds really good ... and really BIG! It definitely qualifies for Big Book Summer. Hope you enjoy your week back home (we just returned from a trip, too) and enjoy your books this week, too.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds so fun! Your grandkids and you made some great memories from the sound of it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a good time with the grandkids! Water parks are so much fun. It's been ages since I last went roller skating. I used to love it.
