What is the Sunday Salon?
The Sunday Salon is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.
What I Read Last Week:
The Book Censor's Library by Bothanya Al-Essa
10 Keys to Happier Living by Vanessa King
Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy by Mary Roach
The Imagined Life by Andrew Porter
What I'm Reading Now:
Hum by Helen Phillips (fiction)
Endling by Maria Reva (fiction)
What I Posted Last Week Here at Readerbuzz:
Ah, Benny & Joon. I remember watching this lovely romance way back when. Two quirky people who find each other. I'm not even going to question the ending; let's just hope for the best, right?
This was a fun first selection of Erin (Still Life, with Cracker Crumbs) and Lisa's (Boondock Ramblings) Cozy Comfy Cinema.

I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
My friend Karen and I
volunteered as greeters at last weekend's
Good Thing #2:
One of my Texas Master Naturalist
chapter members recorded
these hummingbirds at her feeders
this week.
Good Thing #3:
A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
in my own backyard this week!
You are so lucky to witness hummingbird migration!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this fun blog event.
Wow! You've definitely had the hummingbird visits lately! We've had visits from little skunks! LOL
ReplyDeleteThose rae fantastic photos of the hummingbirds. What an experience!
ReplyDeleteI can actually spell ARE. Geez....clumsy fngers on that last comment :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I have to correct my spelling every so often, my fingers won't move as fast as my brain thinks.
DeleteI think our hummingbirds have already left. Haven't seen them at the zinnias or at the feeders. Buen viage!
ReplyDeleteI've been negligent about getting my autumn hummingbird feeders hung. (My excuse is an injured leg that has limited my mobility.) But my daughters are here today, so hang on, little hummingbirds! Your treat is on its way!
ReplyDeleteThose hummingbirds are fantastic. The event sounds terrific!
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law has somewhere around 15 hummingbird feeders in her yard and they get a ton of hummingbirds at one time. They are fun to watch. Yay for getting them to visit in your yard. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love hummingbirds.
ReplyDeleteSo many hummingbirds! What fun!
ReplyDeleteI put a hummingbird feeder outside near my mom's office window. She loves seeing those little birds come to the feeder every morning.
ReplyDeleteLove the hummingbirds! Thanks for the reminder for Actions for Happiness. Have a great weekend and week! :)
ReplyDeleteHooray for hummingbirds! It sounds like your week was full, but not overful.
ReplyDeleteI have that same bird feeder!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing How to Be Happy: 10 Keys to Happier Living and The Imagined Life on your SS post last week I bought a copy of them.
I love Johnny Dep and think I've seen all of his movies.
Hummingbirds are amazing; I love to sit and watch them.
ReplyDeleteI love hummingbirds! I feel like they're the closest we regular mortals come to connecting with the fairy world. I also love the Action for Happiness calendar! I'll have to see what I can do to implement some of these actions in October!
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos of the hummingbirds. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law had hummingbird feeders outside her living room windows. I loved to sit and watch them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful week!
We are lucky enough here in Vancouver to have Anna hummingbirds which don’t migrate but stay with us year long. It’s a commitment to make sure they constantly have a clean supply of solution in their feeder but we love to watch them from our patio or kitchen window. When the temperatures are occasionally dip low enough to freeze their solution, we attach a hummingbird feeder heater. Enjoy these lovely birds!
ReplyDeleteHummingbird migration, so cool!
ReplyDeletethey love coming to our salvia on our little porch, a few inches away from us, when we are sitting quietly. So fun!
I love Hummingbirds!
ReplyDeleteOoo... those hummingbirds look adorable! I didn't realise they migrated - how wonderful that you are able to see species that are visiting. We don't get them in our country and I wish we did. Thank you for sharing, Deb:).
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the hummingbird pics, thanks for sharing! I've been wanting to watch Benny & Joon again, but with my kids this time. And I had to look at the post about the non-fiction book by Mary Roach - I think it's a different author than the fiction I'm ready by Mary E. Roach now.
ReplyDeleteI watched Benny & Joon years ago. I don't remember much of it other than it was cute. Look at those beautiful hummingbirds! We get them out here, too, but not as much as in Southern California where I used to live. They like our flowers, but I should put a feeder out for them.
ReplyDeleteHummingbirds are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe Kookaburra pair that spend Spring to Autumn in the tree in my backyard moved back in last week. They aren’t migratory birds but my pair disappear somewhere every winter.
Wishing you a wonderful reading week
Lots of lovely hummingbirds this week! Yes, I have to say that I hope that ending of Benny and Joon went okay as well, but they were living in the same building as Ruthie so there would at least be someone there to help keep an eye on them -- until Ruthie movies in with Benny or maybe Benny moves in with Ruthie and then Joon and Sam have their own place and Ruthie and Benny have theirs...I don't know..hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI have a family of 4 hummers still here in South Carolina. I usually will see them until beginning of October. I'll be sad when they leave because I just love seeing them buzz around. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite the photographer! Lovely photos of the hummingbirds! The Imagined Life sounds good. I like emotional and introspective books. My inner circle has decided to send handwritten notes via snail mail on a rotating schedule. I will include the Actions for Happiness calendar in this month's card. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHummiingbirds are so much fun to watch... great photos!!
ReplyDeleteI’m on a long library waitlist for Replacable You and can’t wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteSomeday I will participate in this blog hop! I keep meaning to. :)
I really liked Benny & Joon, for the bit he did with the hat. It's the only thing I remember.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see all the hummingbirds. We have two types, one mostly: Anna's Hummingbird and sometimes, Rufous Hummingbirds. That's it.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous, Deb! I love your photos! Hummingbirds are beautiful and fascinating...and tiny!
ReplyDeleteoh such gorgeous little birds! It is spring here so the birds are nesting - and swooping. That's why cyclists have to wear helmets here in spring!
ReplyDeletecheers
