Talk less; listen more. I know I say this every year, but I'm practicing it this year. Really. I am.
Duolingo. A friend included me in her paid version of this app, and now I'm amping up my language practice. I'm focusing on Spanish and French.
Sci fi and fantasy. I want to read more of science fiction and fantasy. Please share some titles I should read.
Barre. Power pump. Step. I'm trying some new classes at our rec center. I've loved everything I've tried so far.
Write each day. Ten minutes.
Blog at least once a week. My seventeenth year. Host a weekly gathering, welcome to all, The Sunday Salon.
Nature. Learn more about it. Get out in it. Share it with others.
Reading/blogging challenges. I went a little overboard with these. 2026 Challenges: Nonfiction Reader Challenge. Back to the Classics Challenge. Nick's Chapter-a-Day Tolstoy Challenge. Speccy Fiction Challenge. Japanese Literature Challenge. Nature Reading Challenge. Creativity Reading Challenge. Happiness Reading Challenge. Immigration Reading Challenge. Contemplative Reading Project. A-Z Blogging Challenge. Historical Fiction Reading Challenge. Mount TBR Reading Challenge. Library Love Challenge. Baking/Cooking Challenge. My Perpetual Challenges: 1001 Children's Books, Classics Club.
I shall continue to work to promote happiness and kindness and education and truth and gratitude and the common good in the world. How exactly shall I do this? I don't know, but I hope to figure it out each day.
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.
Ooh nice set of goals! Wishing you the best of luck with all of these!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
What wonderful goals for 2026. I am also on Duolingo for French, and is also attending a very informal French course where I live. I am thinking of what I want to go for this year, but am not entirely ready yet. It will come.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals. Especially with all the challenges ... wow.
Absolutely marvelous goals. All terrific, the last probably the most important. We need all the kindness we can get. Somehow, I think you will achieve them all.
ReplyDeleteTalk less? Have a chat to my daughter, will you?
ReplyDeleteI’m nearly finished with the Spanish course on Duolingo. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow!
DeleteThose all sound like excellent goals! Good luck with the duo lingo -- I'm guessing the paid version isn't as annoying as the free one. XD
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of challenges! I’ll be posting some ideas for the Speccy Fiction Challenge this weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with all your goals.
You've got your year's work cut out for you with those goals. And I'm sure you will achieve them. Good luck and very best wishes got a wonderful 2026!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice set of goals, Deb!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a huge set of challenges! Good luck with your goals -- love the idea of getting out into nature more, something we can all aspire to!
ReplyDeleteLove your goals, Deb. Are you already know, listening more is on my list as well. I'm also thinking about taking up French again. I haven't spoke it regularly since childhood. Good luck with your goals! Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteExcellent goals! I need to have a think about what specific challenges I want to participate in; there are some fun ones on Litsy which I do, but I don't participate in a lot of blogging ones. It seems like a good way to find more bloggers to follow, as well as have motivation/reading buddies, though.
ReplyDeleteRe: sci-fi and fantasy, you'd think I'd immediately have recommendations, but my brain has gone entirely blank!
I shall be listening and reading your blog to see titles you have enjoyed.
DeleteFinding good sci-fi and fantasy is challenging — I just finished a historical fantasy novel but have reservations about recommending it. Have you read Haruki Murakami? I really like his magical realism. The South American magical realism writers are also fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI have reading everything Murakami writes. The SA magical realists have intimidated me into giving up on them.
DeleteThese are some great goals. Not a big sci fi fan but I do enjoy the occasional fantasy. Looking forward to see what you read.

ReplyDeleteYou have some great goals, good luck with them all...and good luck with all those challenges!! But, more than that, have fun with it all!
ReplyDeleteExcellent, all of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat flavor of fantasy are you interested in? (That's the main genre I read, although I'm trying to branch out! Last year 39% of my reading was fantasy.) I've been meaning to join your Sunday Salon!
ReplyDeleteI did not realize there are different kinds of fantasy! lol
DeleteI hope you will join us for Sunday Salon.
Ooh! Ooh! Great goals! Connie Willis for science fiction. Naomi Novik for fantasy.
ReplyDeleteI've read a couple of Connie Willis books, but I'll see if I can find more. I will add Naomi Novik to my list. Thanks, Laurie.
DeleteThese are all such inspiring goals, Deb. Love your photograph, too! Your hair is beautiful, as is your smile. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat goals, Deb! It's great that you are studying both Spanish and French I was studying both Italian and Albanian, but I kept getting them conflated. So now, it’s just Albanian for me. That’s a lot of challenges! As for sci-fi, I thoroughly enjoy the Murderbot Diaries. Last year, I read Hive by DL Orton, and gave it 4.5. I’m currently reading the second in the series, Jump. It’s a dystopian time travel story - basically attempting to stop the dystopia. The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle for a classic sci-fi story. You might enjoy Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recommendations!
DeleteI'm also addicted to reading challenges! They always add an element of fun into my reading year. Good luck with all of your goals.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Good luck! Listening is one of my goals too.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, Deb. Admirable goals!
ReplyDeleteThese are great goals! I'm not sure what kind of fantasy you'd prefer, but Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries is a really good one and was on many top ten books lists this year. I also really love The Prison Healer trilogy by Lynette Noni, A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft, and Half A Soul by Olivia Atwater. Blogging more regularly is a big goal of mine too. I hope you achieve all your goals 😊.

Great goals! I actually downloaded Duolingo towards the end of last year and... I have yet to actually open the app after downloading. Oops! Definitely a great goal for this year. I hope you enjoy achieving all of these :)
ReplyDeleteGood goals. And congrats on 17 years of blogging. And thanks for hosting Sunday Salon each week. It's really helpful. I made a list goals too .... and I need to re-read my list every month or so to keep on track.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your challenges! I think you might enjoy some cozy science fiction and fantasy. The authors who come to mind are TJ Klune, Travis Baldree, and Becky Chambers. I haven't read all of their works but I've generally loved what I have read (though I can't recommend In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune; that one was a mess. But just thinking about The House in the Cerulean Sea gives my heart a warm glow.).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen!
