What is the Sunday Salon?
The Sunday Salon is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.
It's nice to see little reminders of love from your family around the house.
My husband was in his happy place this week, wandering the rock and gem shows in Tucson. I enjoyed the rare quiet week where I ate exactly what I wanted and I did exactly what I wanted.
Thank you to Carrie of Care's Books and Pies for this lovely Valentine's Day surprise!
It's Valentine's Day weekend so I hope that we can all find ways to show others some love. It's never too late to put a card into the mail. Every day is a good day to share some love.

What I Posted Last Week Here at Readerbuzz:
The Sunday Salon: Three Basketball Wins, a Classics Club Spin, and Reading a Book a Day

I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
Mardi Gras in Galveston!
Good Thing #2:
I tried a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies,
and delivered samples to friends.
Good Thing #3:
There were a handful of beautiful books
in my Little Free Library this week,
including Caraval, a book I've been wanting to read.
I hope you will join the linkup for Sunday Salon below.

Looks like a great reading week! Nice to have a little time to yourself, isn’t it? I hope your husband found a lot of nice stones. I love the free library concept. Happy Valentine’s Day!
ReplyDeleteRock and gems shows sound fascinating! You have a very varied book selection at the moment. Thanks for the link-up!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great week for reading! I'm quite curious about Time Loops & Meet Cutes, good to see that you liked it.
ReplyDeleteA rock and gem show would her very entertaining. I should let you know that I am presently away in The Bahamas and will probably not be spending much time on blogs. The internet is also a little spotty where we are.
ReplyDeleteHAVE A GREAT VALENTINE DAY!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your husband had a great time! Those cookies look delicious. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day Deb!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day! Yay for bookish treasures in your free little library!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you, Deb! It's actually raining outside - not storming but normal quiet rain. Yay! We need it. Glad you had a good week and hope your husband had a good time at his event. Those cookies look good. We went out for our Valentine's Day meal last evening and enjoyed some lovely seafood. Hope this week is fun for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have time alone for a few days, isn't it? I haven't read anything by Saunders, but I'm interested in Vigil. I'm planning to make cookies this weekend! Happy Valentine's Day to you, sweet Deb!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely week you've had! There's nothing quite like a little alone time to reset and do whatever moves you :-) I love the title In Defense of Dabbling and will have a look. Seems timely with all my recent curiosities and dabblings.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you
ReplyDeleteCookies, love notes, and Mardi Gras? Sounds like a great week!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great week. A special Valentine, Some alone time, and Mardi Gras celebrations. Throw in lots of reading and it sounds like my kind of week.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to an airshow at the end of March which is my husband's happy place. I found a fun hotel and a few interesting looking restaurants so I'm planning on enjoying it too! I do like a week of eating exactly what I want. Caraval is on my TBR. I'll be curious to see what you think of it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day 💝 💓 💖 dear Deb.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love a week when you can do just what you want?! It sound perfect to me. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day! That is the best kind of mail. I send birthday cards throughout the year and I received a Valentine postcard today. Have a great week! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day! Those chocolate chip cookies look yummy. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of week! Fun times, good food, and great books!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time this week too!
Those cookies look amazing, and I have added In Defense of Dabbling to my TBR. I just requested it from the library.
ReplyDeleteIm glad you had a wonderful week full of love, books, chocolate cookies and Valentine cards
ReplyDeleteI’m adding In Defense of Dabbling to my TBR.
Wishing you great reading!
That is an amazing collection of books you've read and are going to read this week! I've had my eye on Vigil. I liked your review. Did you read Lincoln in the Bardo? Are there any similarities if you did?
ReplyDeleteI love Caraval and hope that you do as well!
ReplyDeleteDear America was quite an eye-opener, wasn't it? I was shocked to learn that he had no legal path to citizenship available and I'm sure there are countless others in that situation.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people don't understand that.
DeleteI always get so excited looking at the books that arrive in our little free library! It sounds like a good week!
ReplyDeleteI want those cookies!!!
ReplyDeleteCome and get some! lol
DeleteCan't wait to read what you though of George Saunders newest novel. I just learned it is quite short and readable in one sitting. A Bonus.
ReplyDeleteI was glad for your thoughts on the Jose Vargas book. I was at The Post when he worked there! His situation was staggering & sad. But I just looked him up & he was able to get citizenship in April 2024. Thank goodness. Here is an 2025 interview with him I found helpful. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/jose-antonio-vargas-updates-dear-america-to-describe-the-process-to-become-documented
ReplyDeleteIt's weird but I'm not sure if my previous comment went thru. (I don't mean to duplicate if so). But I was glad for your review of the Jose Vargas book. It seems a staggering story. I guess his book was in 2018 but luckily he did become a citizen in 2024. But so many others aren't so lucky. People need more empathy towards immigrants and their situations. I liked your comments about it.

DeleteIt did go through, but I approve all comments before they post on the third day, and sometimes it feels like they did not go through.
DeleteCookies! I want one. Also, I'm always shocked when I find good books in the LFL. In my neighborhood, I mostly find Christian books and get rich quick books. :) I'm not super interested in either of those.
