Book-to-Movie Adaptations Worth Watching

I'm not a big fan of book-to-movie adaptations. Too often moviemakers butcher books.

But these were well done, I think.

Life of Pi

The Hunger Games

The Devil Wears Prada

The Time Machine

The Help

The Fault in Our Stars

One for the Money

One Day

Ordinary People

The Hours

Do you have any that I missed?

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

  2. I love this list. I will say that I've seen some of these movies without reading the book first, but for those I've read I can say that the movies does it justice.

  3. I haven't managed to bring myself to watch 'One Day', because I love the book so damn much. I love 'The Hunger Games' as a movie, but I haven't read the book yet, and I didn't even know that there was a movie of 'The Time Machine' - I'll have to check that out. Great list! :)

  8. I loved both the book and the movie adaption of The Devil Wears Prada. I haven't actually read The Hunger Games (shocker, I know!) but I have been quite enjoying the films as they've been released.

I agree with you on movie makers butchering films a lot of the time. One of my favourite books ever is The Woman In Black by Susan Hill. I've seen the theatre play twice, and would happily go a third, fourth, fifth and on, so was really excited when it got turned in to a film. Although I do enjoy the film, and it played out well in that format, they altered the ending from the book!! It was given more of a Hollywood ending.

  14. Time-traveller 's wife and Bridget Jones Diary were both done well. As was the Harry Potter series and City of Ember. Gone with the Wind was another beauty and Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit were amazing movies as was Jurassic Park and Timeline.Oh dear I could go on all night!
