I'm not a big fan of book-to-movie adaptations. Too often moviemakers butcher books.
But these were well done, I think.

Life of Pi
The Hunger Games
The Devil Wears Prada
The Time Machine
The Help
The Fault in Our Stars
One for the Money

Ordinary People
The Hours
Do you have any that I missed?
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
Nice! Never did read or see these. But great picks all the same! ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
None of these? You really must see Fault in Our Stars.
DeleteI love this list. I will say that I've seen some of these movies without reading the book first, but for those I've read I can say that the movies does it justice.
ReplyDeleteAnd that doesn't happen all that often.
DeleteI haven't managed to bring myself to watch 'One Day', because I love the book so damn much. I love 'The Hunger Games' as a movie, but I haven't read the book yet, and I didn't even know that there was a movie of 'The Time Machine' - I'll have to check that out. Great list! :)
ReplyDeleteTime Machine is old, old, old...maybe from 1960 or so.
DeleteI loved The hunger games and The devil wears prada. NIce list!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by My Top 10 Tuesday
Devil Wears Prada is a much better movie than book, I thought.
DeleteDevil wears Prada great book, it gets really great movie adaptation I love it.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful actors in Devil Wears Prada.
DeleteI really enjoyed reading and watching the movie adaptation of The Help!! I forgot to add The Book Thief to my list this week too as I have to read this book and watch the movie adaptation.
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/11/top-ten-tuesday-ten-book-to-movie.html
I haven't seen Book Thief yet. Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteI would add "The English Patient" and "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest".
ReplyDeleteI loved both the book and the movie adaption of The Devil Wears Prada. I haven't actually read The Hunger Games (shocker, I know!) but I have been quite enjoying the films as they've been released.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on movie makers butchering films a lot of the time. One of my favourite books ever is The Woman In Black by Susan Hill. I've seen the theatre play twice, and would happily go a third, fourth, fifth and on, so was really excited when it got turned in to a film. Although I do enjoy the film, and it played out well in that format, they altered the ending from the book!! It was given more of a Hollywood ending.

Love all The Hunger Games movies!

I'll come back to this list in future, I expect! I haven't seen a single one of these movies yet!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Life of Pi and TFIOS <3 Great list!
ReplyDeleteLife of Pi is one of the best film adaptations i've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThis good list you made. I thought Gone Girl was done well, also Out of Africa and perhaps Sophie's Choice. hmm
ReplyDeleteTime-traveller 's wife and Bridget Jones Diary were both done well. As was the Harry Potter series and City of Ember. Gone with the Wind was another beauty and Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit were amazing movies as was Jurassic Park and Timeline.Oh dear I could go on all night!
