Nonfiction November: Be the Expert

Week 4: (Nov 21 – 25) – (JulzBe The Expert
Share 3 or more books on a single topic that you have read and can recommend (be the expert).
I read a lot of nonfiction and I write up a lot of lists, so I (modestly) consider myself a bit of an expert on some genres within nonfiction. Here are some I have done in the past:

And, finally...

What I Read This Week
Happily, I finished all eight of my Nonfiction November reads this week. I'll share the reviews next week, but for now I'll just say that I read and enjoyed, at various levels, all of them:

What Arrived This Week

Of course, my Cybils fiction picture book and board book nominees continued to flood my mailbox this week. One day, I received thirteen books! I also received other wonderful books for review:

Now that I've finished all my Nonfiction November reads I am free to read again at-will, so I am sure I will be picking this up in the next day or two....

What are you reading today?

What is the Sunday SalonImagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between!  This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.

  1. I usually read books in a streaky way...all poetry, then all Austen, then mostly nonficiton. Sounds like you need to move on to the next thing.

  2. Wow. Good job finishing all of your Nonfiction November picks! I've only finished one of them so far, because I had a bit of a reading slump for a couple of weeks. But that's ok. I think I still have time to finish up Neurotribes and The Righteous Mind.

  3. Oooh, I think it's fun to read up on something like that. When I read Walk On Earth a Stranger it reminded me that I read a lot of pioneer/covered wagon books when I was a kid. Like, a LOT.

  4. Oh, well done. I think I've said before I don't 'do' non-fiction at all. Perhaps I read for the escapism, so reading anything other than fiction just wouldn't work for me! ;-)

  9. Good job! I got bogged down with work so read only 1 nonfiction (I think), I needed the lightness of fiction to contrast with the nonfiction I was editing all month.

  11. Some of the longer non-fiction are ones I've put on my list. They all sound illuminating. And Big Bear, Small Mouse, another "bear" book that I'm sure I'll love. Thanks, Deb!
