What is the Sunday Salon? The Sunday Salon is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's also a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.
It's my birthday on November 1st, and I am turning seventy years old! (My nice niece Bekah made this cake for me when she was first learning to decorate cakes, about twenty years ago.)
I shall celebrate today by going out to eat and visiting a bookstore, and we are planning to celebrate big at the Texas Book Festival in two weeks.
Update on my dad: His cough is better, but he is experiencing some of the side effects of steroids (sleeplessness) and antibiotics (digestive issues) and weakness. He appreciates all the good thoughts and prayers! (I am grateful for these, too, as I try to be a good daughter and bring out meals and medicines, and take him to his appointments.)
Update on our gas leak: Our gas (and, consequently, our water heater and dryer and furnace) is still turned off, awaiting our plumber.

What I Read Last Week:
The Radiance: A Novel by Ayad Akhtar (Fiction)
Cat Love: A Novel by Tomás Q. Morín (Fiction)
Building 903 by Lois Lowry (Fiction)

What I'm Reading Now:
The Calamity Club by Katherine Stockett (Fiction)
Nonfiction coming soon...
For more details,
take a look at this post.
If all goes well, several of us from our library's friends group
will be giving out books on our city's Trick or Treat Trail.
I shall be this witch.
What I Posted Last Week Here at Readerbuzz:

I began to list 3 Good Things every day during the pandemic. Now I've established a regular routine of writing down my 3 Good Things. Here are 3 Good Things from last week:
Good Thing #1:
The wonderful Tina of Turn the Page
sent me this
lovely box of birthday surprises.
I will be opening everything
on my birthday on Sunday.
Good Thing #2:
We took a hike at
Brazos Bend State Park last weekend,
and saw some cool critters.
Good Thing #3:
The view out the window
of my yoga class this week.
I hope you will join the linkup for Sunday Salon below.

I hope you have a fabulous birthday and a fun time at the bookstore and going out to eat!
ReplyDeleteThe link up spot has disappeared off the face of the earth. Or at least I can't see it. I see "I hope you will join the linkup for Sunday Salon below" but then there's nowhere to link.
ReplyDeleteOops! I will add it right now!
DeleteSincere best wishes for your birthday tomorrow. May you have many more years of happy reading and the fulfillment of nature.

Happy Birthday weekend Deb! I’m glad to hear your Dad is slowly recovering - I know the sleep deprivation that comes with Prednisone so hopefully he will not be on it much longer. Have an extra special weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday tomorrow! That will be a great day and a new decade beginning! May it be lovely. Your witch costume and idea is great and I loved that cake -- perfect for you!
ReplyDeleteHappy 70th birthday!!! I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating over the next few weeks! I am sorry to hear your dad is still struggling, praying he is better soon. I also hope you are able to get the plumber there sooner rather than later. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you! Keeping your Dad in my prayers for better health. Also hope you can get the gas leak repaired soon. Take care and enjoy your Halloween!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your Dad is recovering. Sounds like he is in good hands and getting excellent care. He's been in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteYea to your 70th trip around the sun and welcome to the 70 club, lol. Lots of lovely books you shared today!
Happy Birthday, Deb - sincere wishes from Marian Grudko and Claudine :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. Have a super Halloween weekend.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the gas leak and it's great to hear that your dad is improving. May he continue to do so. And let me add my birthday wishes. I hope you have a wonderful day and weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Debbie! I hope both your dad's health and your gas situation improve soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy 70th birthday!!!! And I am glad your dad is on the mend (despite the meds side effects, which will go away with time). I look forward to seeing what you think of Calamity Club. I can't believe I managed to finish my recent nonfiction book 2 days before November. Such an oversight on my part.
