If all has gone as we hope, I am somewhere in the wilds of Montana. I may have found stacks of dinosaur fossils. I may have piles of sapphires. Which would you like me to bring you?

Les Galeries Lafayette: A Paris Paradise, Even for a Non-Shopper

Most people probably come to Les Galeries Lafayette in Paris because of the shopping that is to be had there. Look at this list:

Armani

Balenciaga

Burberry

But I admit it...I know nothing about fashion, and I don't like to shop. 

However, despite my lack of knowledge of la haute couture, I loved visiting Les Galeries Lafayette when we were in Paris last April. 

The dome, over four stories, is amazing.

Everywhere I looked were incredible displays. This one had hundreds of origami birds.

And you can go up on the rooftop. There's a fantastic view of Paris.

We enjoyed our visit so much we came back a few days later.

This time my sister and I celebrated with champagne on the roof.

Picture Books That Left Me Hanging

It's 32 pages. That's a typical picture book. 

Some of these picture books I've read over and over. And over. 

I can't help but be curious about what might happen next in a few of them...

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

If you are like me, you know this one by heart..."I see a red bird looking at me...Red bird, red bird, what do you see?...I see a yellow duck looking at me..." Blue horse. Green frog. Purple cat. And so on. But what I want to know is...What happens next? Why are all these animals (and children and even a teacher) looking at each other? What is going on?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Yes, yes, I know the Grinch brought back all the presents of the Whos and even ate Christmas dinner with them, but what will he do next? Will he go back to his cave? Or will he become a part of the close-knit Who community?

Where the Wild Things Are

So where is Max today? Did it help him in the long run to have his parent relent and give him supper, even after he had been so very bad? Or did he end up continuing to make mischief of one kind and another into his teen years and even adulthood?

No, David

And if Max is still running wild and crazy, how is No, David? Are Max and No, David running with the same wild crowd?

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

I'm pretty sure the Pigeon has not yet been allowed to drive the bus, stay up late, have a puppy, or eat a cookie. And it's entirely likely that he's hanging out somewhere with Max and No, David. Probably doing something in politics...

Hunting for Fossils and Sapphires: Heading to Montana This Week

 

Well, this weekend I'm...yes, you guessed it...traveling again...this time to North Texas for a baby shower. I will get home Monday, and then Tuesday we are flying to Montana for a rock dig. My husband and I will be hunting for fossils and sapphires. Wish us luck!

Just one book finished this week, but it was a good one,

filled with lots of ideas based on science about excellent ways to walk.

Once again, we checked out a few things from the library while our grandkids were visiting. Annie and Wyatt loved using the butterfly punch...We ended up making and decorating over a hundred paper butterflies. The kids also loved the giraffe sprinkler we checked out and playing in our sandbox. We taught Annie to play Uno (she won!) and we taught Wyatt checkers and Candyland. We also had a picnic and went to the park. Fabulous weekend.

Musée Picasso, Paris

Picasso.

It's a person, 

but it's also a word that instantly makes you think of an innovator.

Picasso is known for 

co-founding the Cubist movement, 

the invention of constructed sculpture, 

the co-invention of collage.

I visited Musée Picasso when I was in Paris.
