Many people make New Year's Resolutions. Over 70% never achieve them.
Every year I set goals. I accomplish them. (Okay, here's my secret: I make them easy enough to actually accomplish!)
Last year, I signed on for several book challenges. I finished all of them. In the process, I read award winning books, read lots of books from the library and my TBR, passed on books I'd read, wrote reviews for all my books, and read more books than I've ever read.
It was a good experience.
Congratulations to you for completing all your reading goals. I did not fare as well, but I had fun in the process and read some wonderful books along the way.
ReplyDeleteThe challenges you have signed up for in 2010 look like great ones.
Deb...I envy people who make resolutions and achieve them. Congrats. I'm pretty good about achieving my reading goals (I've joined a few of the same ones as you did), but the "diet" ones...not so much! LOL Have a great 2010.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've taken on more challenges then I planned to but hope I can cross post most of my books. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteSetting goals usually doesn't work very well for me. If I decide to go left, all of a sudden I really want to go right :-). However, I did finish one reading challenge this year. It was food book challenge recommended to me by a reader of my blog when he noticed that I had a lot of food-related books on my TBR list. I guess it isn't really a challenge if you do it that way, but it DID get me to read the books sooner rather than let them linger on my list.
ReplyDeleteMy challenge: I'm going to try to learn to use the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the ThemeQuest Reading Challenge! It's going to be a great year ahead.

I know I will join far more challenges than I can possibly finish but since they push me to read things that might otherwise have languished on the shelves untouched, I don't mind striving and failing a bit. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on achieving your reading goals this year, and good luck with next year's challenges!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my post. Good luck with your challenges in 2010! :)
ReplyDeleteI've joined 5. I'm in the Social Justice one with you. I'm in a YA, South Asian Author, Women Unbound and GLBT challenge. I'm thinking of joining Black Classics but that would be it.
ReplyDeleteI want to be like you. My goal is to set a few goals and meet them.
Good luck with them! I tend to do well on one goal but not on the others I make.
ReplyDeletebtw, you left an interesting comment on my post today, saying to let you know if I ever venture down to TX - I actually live in San Antonio. :D
Congratulations on accomplishing your goals for this year! You have a really interesting set of challenges lined up for 2010. Maybe I should follow your lead and make the goals for me ones I could actually meet!
ReplyDeleteBest to you and you complete these challenges. I've been meaning to look for a few more (didn't know about themequest...) but I need to stop.
