I've not read a single one of these books! I really need to read Of Mice & Men though, I've been wanting to read that one for ages.
ReplyDeleteOh - I loved OF MICE AND MEN!! Great list.
ReplyDeleteOf Mice and Men is so sad! I was crying at that during an English class in high school. Not cool!
ReplyDeleteYou always have the best, most eclectic lists. There is really a book called "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families"? Wow - how could that not be sad?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my list!
Sarah
Great list!

I'm not familiar with most of these books... Looks like I have some research to do! You can check out my Top Ten Tuesday here. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteRoll of Thunder, Hear Me Cry looks scary and sad just from the cover!
ReplyDeleteI almost put The Good Earth on my list, but it's such a great book, it's been on another list, so I opted for something else.
What a great list! Your lists are always surprising, eclectic, and unpredictable. I really do need to read The Good Earth (with tissues by my side).
ReplyDeleteThat Gourevich work certainly has an interesting title!
ReplyDeleteOh! Chaim Potok! Yes, his books would fill the bill -- very moving. And I just checked out the audiobook of Zeitoun.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visting my list and leaving a comment. That's very nice of you! :")
ReplyDeleteI never cry when I read books, but Still Alice had in tears on multiple occasions. I refuse to reread it :p
ReplyDeleteSarah's Key for me, had some heart wrenching parts.

Thanks for your list! There are many books on there that I haven't read so far. The covers look great! They really make me to want to discover more of them... :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Out of the Dust--what a great book that is!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I can't believe someone would title their book "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families". Talk about depressing.
ReplyDeleteI read seven of them. You have good taste.
ReplyDeleteOf Mice and Men always makes me cry too. I also cried after reading The Kite Runner and The Book Thief.
ReplyDeleteRoll of Thunder, Hear Me Cry is another one that made me cry. Ive never actually read of Mice and Men but it is on my long list too.
ReplyDeleteI've heard such great things about Zeitoun I really need to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. My list was for 2010, but, I will not get them all read before the year is over.
ReplyDeleteI have read Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry and the 100 dresses though. Both are on my favorite books list.
Great list! Some sad books :(
ReplyDeleteThe only book I've read on your list is Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry...although I don't remember much about it!
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to compile all of the lists to see which book appeared the most! Out of all of the lists I read this week I think The Book Thief came up most often. This is the saddest title I've seen: We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families. That's a heartbreaking title!
I've only heard of The Good Earth from your list and can't say that I liked the story or understood it very much.
ReplyDeleteThe Good Earth made me teary-eyed too. His wife was so dedicated, and what did she get in return? Shameful.
ReplyDeleteI read Of Mice and Men but it didnt make me cry. My mum likes The Good Earth. I want to try: My name is Asher Lev I thought that was happy, I wonder what its about? I also like 100 dresses but i never heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteOf Mice and Men made me cry too, which is very rare for me!
