What were you doing while I was out of town? Did you read anything I should pick up? I'm glad to be back. I missed you!
What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.
The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.
Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.
Oh my goodness.... do things like this happen on all your vacations or just in New Mexico? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhenever we go out into the wilds.
DeleteIt looks like some good books arrived for you his week! I wish I could read as fast as you.
ReplyDeleteI *am* a fast reader.
DeleteWow! Sounds like quite a trip. I'd definitely be staying inside for a week or two to recover. I'm not sure which scares me more - the bear or the scorpion. You got some fantastic looking books this week. I had forgotten about Tony Hillerman. I used to love his books but I know there's a couple I haven't read and I'm wanting to try the books by his daughter as well. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe scorpion was a little scarier than the bear, I think.
DeleteBUT the bear didn't bite you, right? :) So you've got that going for you. :) Which was your favorite out of the ones you read this past week?
ReplyDeleteI honestly liked the three fiction books equally well. They were all brilliantly well written.
DeleteLots of black bears around here this year. Must have been a bumper crop last spring.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Deb!!
Thanks, Debbie. I'm happy to be back.
DeleteAwesome looking books! Glad you survived the wilds, and thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you made it home safely! That's quite an adventure you had! Tony Hillerman was one of my dad's favorite authors when he was alive. I understand Hillerman's daughter has taken over the series. I have never tried his books. I hope you enjoy your new books! Have a great week, Deb!
ReplyDeleteWe got about halfway through the audiobook. We'll finish it up at home, I hope.
DeleteIt sounds like you enjoyed your holiday Deb and I'm also glad you're home safely. You'll be very OVER New Mexico books after this and will need a new theme!
ReplyDeleteIt's almost time for Paris in July, I think.
DeleteYIkes!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow - quite the adventure you had there on your travels!
ReplyDeleteI love Natalie Goldberg. She is such an enlightening writing teacher. I also like listening to her read her work on audio. The Willa Father has been on my TBR list forever. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteYour vacations sound anything but boring. Glad to hear you made it back without injuries:) I haven't heard of a lot of these books. Must look into them!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Your vacation certainly sounds interesting. Glad you survived! I haven't read any of the New Mexico books you shared- but I do like to read books that take place in the locations I am visiting. :)

Whenever I go on vacation it always rains, even when I go somewhere that has been experiencing an extended drought (not exaggerating).
ReplyDeleteI just bought a box of High Fiber Chocolate Fudge Brownies (store brand), but haven't had a chance to try them yet. I plan to save them for when I am having cravings and need something a bit more healthy than regular brownies or chocolate cake.
