Snow and Ice and Fall Color in Sedona

My husband and I went hiking with my sister and her husband in Sedona, Arizona last November.

We were delighted with the fall color. We don't get any fall color here along the Gulf Coast of Texas.

It was icy on one hike.

One day it began to snow while we hiked.

  5. Lovely pictures! Did you guys get any snow over the weekend? Probably not. Ours was so beautiful and happily not combined with sleet and ice. Just gorgeous big snowflakes that were wet and apparently were perfect for snowmen. All the kids around had a great time creating snow sculptures. I felt like it was a great blessing for us. A hopeful thing somehow. LOL

  6. Those pictures are beautiful, thanks for sharing ! We had a long autumn here this year, because of the rather warm temperatures, probably. It's been very cold these last days, but still no snow...

  7. This is beautiful. We once headed to Sedona, leaving my cousin's house in Flagstaff. The hill was so icy we stopped and went back and never made it, though I'd been before. I'd love to see it again.

  15. That funny looking pellet snow has a name. It's called graupel:
"Graupel, also called soft hail or snow pellets, is precipitation that forms when supercooled water droplets are collected and freeze on falling snowflakes, forming 2–5 mm balls of rime. Graupel is distinct from hail and ice pellets. Hail is common in thunderstorms, while graupel typically falls in winter storms. "
