It's National Poetry Month.
To celebrate poetry this month, I'm sharing a few lines from a poem I love along with a photo I took. I'll include a link to the entire poem below.
Antilamentation
Dorianne Laux
Regret nothing. Not the cruel novels you read
to the end just to find out who killed the cook.
Not the insipid movies that made you cry in the dark,
in spite of your intelligence, your sophistication...
The full poem, "Antilamentation" by Dorianne Laux, is here.

Oh, that's a fun one. I laughed at the opening.
ReplyDelete"You've traveled this far on the back of every mistake." Boy did I need to hear this today. More people ought to know how very helpful poetry is, to our very reasons for living. Thanks again for a great post.
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ this. Sweet photo, too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read poetry in such a long time, now I want to. Cute little girl!
ReplyDeleteLove that bit of poem and love the adorable photo even more! Happy Easter week!
ReplyDeleteHadn’t realized April was National Poetry Month when I wrote my poetry posts! Hooray for April , the cruelest (not) month. Loved the poetry excerpt in your post today.
ReplyDeleteI like it.
ReplyDeleteThis poem spoke to me. Everything we experience becomes a part of who we are. Although I don't know about the times I watched video coverage of a giraffe about to give birth or eaglets growing in a California nest. Still, maybe.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem and that little one is adorable. A beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week. ♥
I just discovered this poet this week, too. I love the excerpt you shared.
