  1. Oh, those books about Italy look delightful!!

I loved The Night Circus and A Little Life, although they are quite different from each other. The later made me cry. Literally.

    Merry Christmas!

  4. I really enjoyed A Little Life though it took me a while to get into. It was well worth sticking it out!

    1. That's good to know. Maybe I won't expect to love it right away.

  5. I loved both A Little Life and The Night Circus (although they are VERY different books). A Little Life is definitely long, but it is so good that you will get through it in less time than you think!

  6. I can never do this assignment because I live in the moment so much I haven't even paid attention to debut books coming out in 2018.

  7. Nice list! I didn't like at Night Circus, but maybe because it was in audio, and I thought the voice of the narrator didn't fit at all with the characters. Here is my post, a mix of 2018 releases and older ones: https://wordsandpeace.com/2017/12/26/top-ten-books-im-looking-forward-to-in-2018/

  8. I haven't read The Night Circus all the way through yet either! It's one I keep looking at on my shelf and meaning to get to. I think I'm partly nervous that it won't live up to my expectations. I read A Little Life the year it came out - it's definitely one that requires a lot from the reader. I haven't read Any Human Heart, but I did just finish Restless by William Boyd and previously read half of Ordinary Thunderstorms. I felt that his ideas were amazing but the execution didn't quite work for me, so I'd be interested to see what you make of his work! Here's to a great 2018 reading year!

  9. The Night Circus has been on my TBR since 2016, but hopefully next year is the year I finally read it. From what I`ve gathered I will love the story, so I really don`t know why I`ve been putting it off.

  11. I'm hoping to read (or listen to) A Little Life, as well. And I LOVED The Night Circus (on audio). It was soooo good!

I'm hoping to read State of Wonder (Ann Patchett), Kindred (Octavia Butler), and Stoner (John Williams), to name just a few.
