I will read these in 2018.
The Night Circus
Appointment in Samarra
A Little Life
The Eight
Turtles All the Way Down
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
I will read these. What should I read first? Have you read any of these?
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists
The two I've read are The Night Circus and Eight. Eight and I didn't get along. I haven't read The Long Way Down but I've read other books by Jason Reynolds so can safely that would also be a good starting point.
ReplyDeleteWhy have I struggled to try to read The Eight for so long? This year, I’m either going to read it or release it.
DeleteThose are all new to me ones! Hope you get to read some of this year!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Everyone needs to read Jason Reynolds, I think.
DeleteI have Salt To The Open Sea on my shelves, and must read it. It sounds amazing. Long Way Down looks amazing too - I read a sampler and it used so few words to such great effect.
ReplyDeleteI was crazy about the Salt author’s book I read a couple of years back.
DeleteI like your thinking, read or release it! I should have that mindset too! I recommend Salt to the Sea. It is well written and was a different perspective on WWII for me.
ReplyDeleteI only recently heard of Jason Reynolds, and I tried a bit of Long Way Down when it was free online for a day, I only got a little way through it. I've since bought a copy, and hoping to read it this month. It's a verse novel- even I will knock it over really quickly. What if we both read it this month? I haven't read any of the others either. I have Turtles in the TBR at home.
ReplyDeleteI heard one person say she read Long Way Down in an hour. We could definitely do that. Surely there is an hour in our lives to read this book in January?
DeleteI’ve read The Night Circus and A Little Life, both of which I loved but for very, very different reasons. I bought a copy of the John Green but haven’t taken the time to read it yet. I think my biggest regret for books not read in 2017 would have to be either Roxane Gay’s memoir, Hunger, or Her Body and Other Parties.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I also wanted to read The Night Circus and Turtles All the Way Down! Let's hope we both get to read those books!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my TTT!

Nice list! I've not read any of them, but I have meant to read THE EIGHT for years and years. You go first and then I'll decide if I'm going to 'read or release' (love that).
ReplyDeleteI hope you love The Night Circus, but I always get nervous when people read it. I loved it, but I know not everyone has. A Little Life is one I want to read, but keep putting off. I really should just jump in. Salt to the Sea is another I really want to read. So many tempting books! I hope you enjoy all of these, Deb!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these either. I do have a copy of Salt to the Sea on my Kindle though. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThe Night Circus has gorgeous imagery.
ReplyDeleteA Little Life. GUT PUNCH. I was physically ill while reading this one but it was sooooo beautiful. It's easily a fave book of mine now but it put me in a three month slump after turning that last page because I seriously could not recover from it. It's so wonderful though if you can stomach the subject matter. Look up the origins of the image used on the cover too. Very interesting.
My vote goes to Turtles All the Way Down or Long Way Down. Both are so good. My TTT list
ReplyDeleteThe Night Circus and Turtles All The Way Down are on my TBR still as well. Hope we'll both get to them this year :)
ReplyDeleteNice list of books!! I hope you read them all in 2018!! Here's a link to my TTT post for this week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2018/01/top-ten-tuesday-ten-books-i-meant-to.html
ReplyDeleteI love A Long Way Down and Salt to the Sea. Salt to the Sea made a bigger impression on me than Between Shades of Grey, partly because I didn't know anything about the historical event its based on, and partly because the point of view characters were really distinct and interesting. I suspect A Little Life will be a vacation read for me; it is just so heavy looking, in both senses of the word.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I've been meaning to read The Night Circus for years.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Salt To The Sea, hope you do too. The Night Circus I feel is kind of a hit or a miss, either you love the writing style or you don't, personally I didn't but you might!

YES! So many of these are on my TBR list, too. I hope you get a chance to read all these!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I've read A Little Life but I rather regret the time I expended on it.
ReplyDeleteI'd recommend you start with either John O'Hara's classic OR Salt to the Sea, neither of which I've read, but are what I'd choose if the pile faced me. ;-)
Night Circus is the only one from your list I've already read, though Turtles All the Way Down and Salt to Sea are both on my shelf waiting right now. I also just spent a couple of glorious hours at a local used book sale for Open Books Chicago and brought home 30 new books to add to my already overstuffed shelves. I'm beginning to think that I need to take a Doctor Who Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey approach to what constitutes a "long" time when it comes to how long books are on my self before I read them.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with reading these titles. I've heard good things about many of them, however read only the one myself - The Night Circus. Highly recommend!
ReplyDeleteThe Night Circus is one of my favourite books, couldn't praise it enough! :)
ReplyDeleteA Little Life takes some work to get into, but once you're in it goes quickly. The characters will stay with you for while!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to read Salt to the Sea. I hope you get to read all of them!
ReplyDeleteI've read (and loved) Night Circus and WANT to read Turtles, but haven't ordered it yet. Good luck with knocking out these books.
ReplyDeleteI listened to The Night Circus and thought it was marvelous! I would love to someday see it on the big screen!
ReplyDeleteI am going to read this in 2018. I am.
