Unexpected Snow

We get snow here along the Gulf Coast of Texas about once every eight or nine years. We got snow this year. It was totally unexpected. It didn't even freeze. School wasn't even cancelled. It was a glorious snow.

  1. I can't believe they didn't cancel your schools! Our were cancelled and there was very, very little anything. Think we were on the upper edge of that system and the rain had already passed mostly before the freezing came. It is nice to see a little snow now and then though, isn't it?

    1. Our snow had no ice, so our roads were perfect. I will never forget all the happy faces of the children.

  2. haha, well we (Brussels, Belgium) don't have cancelled schools for such an amount of snow either but we have chaos in traffic, EVERY single time. and public transport gets cancelled.

  3. Nothing wrong with unexpected snow, only trouble is it never lasts long.
BTW that was a cream tea in my post. Scones with Clotted cream & jam, you should have tea with it but we had fresh brewed coffee

  4. There is something exciting about snow especially when you don't get it very often. Growing up we had frequent blizzards in New Jersey and the snow never melted til end of April.. The season's have changed and now we get a small snow storm maybe twice in the winter.

  6. I'd miss a place that didn't have snow in the winter, yep it's a pain to shovel, but oh so beautiful to look at. So neat that the kids got to experience it first hand.

  8. I haven't seen a snowflake this year, it rains all the time, the temperatures are too high for the season and the first flowers try to come out !

    1. I can't think of a place that seems less snow-y than Santa Barbara...maybe Hawaii?

  10. I'll bet the kids loved it! I honestly don't miss it, but it's only the first year that we've been away from the Midwest. Check with me in another two or three years. :)

  11. We lived in Beaumont for seven years, and I remember having snow only once. It was a really big deal! I'm glad your snow didn't cause major problems.
My Saturday Snapshot post features LOTS of snow during a visit to Banff.

  12. Snow! Yay or nay? For me, a big nay. I love to watch it fall and then 30 min later I'm over it. I love summer and hot days! :)
