You. Matter. And Don't Forget It.

We press on.

I spent another lovely week in Paris, though...

...the only book I liked last week was The Paris Librarian. I hope my Paris in July reading gets better. I haven't been wowed by any books yet.

Movie-wise, my husband liked DaVinci Code, and we both enjoyed April and the Extraordinary World.

Good Thing #1: Tom Hanks compares the coronavirus to WWII: "We're all in this together."

Good Thing #2: I finished my Paris puzzle.

Good Thing #3: My sweet friend Rae brought me a Going-to-Paris surprise. Then we social-distanced under the trees and drank some iced tea. Thank you, Rae!

Bonus Good Thing: You. Matter. And don't forget it.

Children's picture book author and illustrator Christian Robinson reminds us: You Matter. I need this message right now. I can only imagine how much children need to hear it.

  1. I’ve spent a little time in France this week too, I’ve been learning the language slowly with Duolingo, it’s been great fun.

Thanks for sharing your posts, I’ll need to check out the croque monseiur one!

    Have a good week!

    1. I used to use Duolingo when I worked. It was easy to use on the go.

  2. Sorry your Paris books not working out better this week. The DaVinci Code novel was really good but I remember the movie about it sort of stunk. Surprising. but it was too much explanation & it just didn't work! But I still like Tom Hanks and he's setting an example too about the virus. I want to see his latest movie. Press on there if you can. Stay well.

  3. I'm trying to remember if I actually read The DaVinci Code or if I just watched the movie. Can't recall. I know I read other books by Dan Brown and watched some other movies attached. Hope your reading goes better this week. Take care down there by the coast, Deb.

  6. I also liked the movie The DaVinci Code when I saw it--action and a great setting. I got excited to see a Pablo Picasso graphic novel, but so bummed to see your comment that he was an awful person. So disappointing!

  7. The Paris Librarian sounds good. I'm sorry the other Paris books were disappointing. I love that puzzle. Beautiful! I hope you have a great week!

  9. I read a lot last week and enjoyed it a lot. The heat index kept me mostly indoors. Tom Hanks really is a national treasure and I wish all children could hear Christian Robinson's message. Hope you have better luck with this week's reading.

  11. Too bad your Paris reading didn't pan out. I love that puzzle you did! I used to do puzzles back when I had no kids and worked part-time. I love doing puzzles and your post made me nostalgic for it. Have a great reading week.

  14. I love that book that discusses 'You Matter' I had a discussion with someone about how it never gets easier when people stare at you because you're different.'People feel better about themselves when they see something different.' (it's just not right)

  15. Who wouldn't love Da Vinci Code??? The first time we went to Rome we were reading Angels and Demons and tracked down all the locations!
Never been a jigsaw puzzle person but bought one the other day in anticipation of the next lockdown!!!

  16. I love how you enjoy Paris through books and movies. Sometimes I think I love traveling that way more than the real way. Like The Accidental Tourist movie; have you ever seen it?

Have a great week, and stay safe in your home while the virus rages around us.

  18. I love the your Paris idea! I might try that with my kiddo someday; to pick a place and read & watch everything we can on it! Sounds like a lot of fun! My daughter and I just watched the 'You Matter' read-aloud so thank you for sharing that! I also really want to watch April and the Extraordinary World now! I haven't seen it on Netflix yet!
I hope you have a great week! Happy reading!

  21. Hi there Deb! Glad you had a good week! I also received a present from a friend who went to Paris over two years ago. I only saw her recently.

I rather want to agree with Tom Hanks. This is very hard times and if we are not all standing together, we will fall apart.

Hope you will have a good week.

  22. I liked the DaVinci Code movie though I felt like I needed a nap after watching it because they ran around so frantically through all of it. I love the idea of visiting Paris virtually. I don't have access to all my books here but I might have to do a bookshop.org order and pick a place to virtually visit. Hope you have a great week.

  23. Oh, that puzzle looks like great fun! And thanks for the link to Tom Hank's interview. He is such a decent human being.

  24. So many good things this week. I considered adding Tom Hanks to my Sunday Salon but thought I had too many things already crowding the post. Glad you found room for him here. I love the Paris poster. I have completed 24 posters since the beginning of the pandemic. I have one more to do and then all I have left is Christmas puzzles. Guess it will be Christmas in July. Thanks for hosting and keeping me on my toes.

  26. Love the Hanks video! So glad they are both ok, and yes, wear a mask, 6 ft., & wash your hands. I'd much rather do that and lower my risk of catching the virus than not do those things and my risk be higher.

  27. Thanks for sharing Tom Hanks video... happy to see it! I sure hope your Paris in July reading improves.

  29. The Pable graphic novel looks like something I would love! I'm going to check it out! I love croque monsieurs, recently I have been making them with different types of cheese and ham (goat cheese for example) and it's really tasty that way as well.

    Have a good week!

  39. I'm loving your Paris journey this month! Looks like you are experiencing, reading, and learning, and watching a bunch of wonderful and interesting things. I don't know much about Pablo Picasso but I learned quite a bit about his awfulness through Hannah Gadsby's show on Netflix. I liked the Da Vinci Code back when it came out but it just doesn't hold up as well through the years. That puzzle is very pretty. I love putting the pretty ones together! I love that You Matter reading. Beautiful. That is a good thing right now. Thanks for sharing that. I hope you have a wonderful week.
