Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

A Brand New Year! With a Link to a Wonderful 2022 Book Log...

Happy New Year, Everyone!

I was hoping 2021 would be better than 2020, and with the appearance and distribution of the vaccine, it was a little better. And then the variants began.

We have gotten as vaccinated as possible and we risked getting together for Christmas with my son and his family and then with my dad and my sister.

And then my husband and I woke up on December 25 with a lot of congestion. After days of scrambling around to find a rapid test, my brother-in-law found a couple and generously shared his with us, and, happily, we are negative for Covid.

I feel a huge sense of relief as we are getting together on January 1st for a dinner to celebrate my dad's 95th birthday.

Last week I posted here at Readerbuzz:

I was browsing blogs this morning, and I ran across a mention of a reading log that is excellent for compiling statistics at Book Riot. It's quite detailed, and I don't know if I can keep it up all year, but I will give it a try. The link to it is here.

I met all my challenges in 2021 here. I also made a lot of progress on my perpetual challenges here.

For 2022, I plan to do the Nonfiction Reader Challenge, Japanese Literature Challenge, Back to the Classics Challenge (self-created), and Classics by Women Authors Chapter-a-Day Challenge (self-created). My 2022 Yearly Challenges are here.

Good Thing #1
Santa brought two very-cool baking pans.
Of course I had to try some pumpkin bread in one of them.

Good Thing #2
Santa also brought a lot of books plus a fabulous mug for my morning afternoon coffee.

Good Thing #3
We were able to have Christmas
with family. ðŸ’—

I'm happy you joined us here at the Sunday Salon. Sunday Salon is a place to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. It's a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

Some of the things we often talk about at the Sunday Salon:

  • What was your week like?
  • Read any good books? Tell us about them.
  • What other bookish things did you do?
  • What else is going on in your life?

Other places where you may like to link up over the weekend are below. Click on the picture to visit the site.

The First Book of 2022 + One Word for 2022

So what is First Book?  First Book is the first book you plan on reading in the New Year.  It can be a long-coveted read you have not had time for, a guilty pleasure read like a re-read of a favorite…  really it can be anything – it is, after all, YOUR First Book.

Make it AWESOME.

This year, I will read as my First Book of the Year...

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Take a look at other First Books here and below:

My #OneWord for 2022? For the last three New Year's Days, I've stuck with the same word, Play. It reminded me to be in the moment, to be spontaneous, to enjoy my life, to draw upon the spirit of love and joy that abides within us at all times. Play.

But this year, I'm choosing a new One Word. Love. It will encourage me to engage Love as my default reaction to all situations. Love. My One Word.

Want to pick your own One Word? Take a look here.

Want to join a One Word Community? Take a look here.

Do you have a First Book for 2021? Have you chosen One Word? I hope you will share.
