Happy Birthday, Top Ten! My Top Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics from the Past Five Years!

Happy birthday, Top Ten Tuesday! Five years of Top Ten Tuesdays! Congratulations!

This is my 219th Top Ten Tuesday post. That seems pretty amazing to me. Top Ten is one of my favorite memes. The prompt each week gets me to thinking about my reading in a new way. I love the process of writing each post, and I love to read through the posts of others linked each week to the Top Ten prompt.

Here, then, are My Top Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics from the Past Five Years:

My first Top Ten Tuesday. August 2010.
Ironically, I've now read all of the books on this list.

September 2010.
Czechoslovakia. And J'aime. And zephyr.
I love reading the list of words other people love.

October 2010.
No vampires for me.
Or books on quantum mechanics.

November 2010.
Yes, it's my name, but it's still unfortunate.

February 2011.
Is Babar not a lovely name?

November 2011.
Oh how I loathed A Prayer for Owen Meany.
Don't hate me.

February 2012.
Discworld would work for lots of book-haters, I think.

September 2010, May 2012, and April 2015.
I love quotes so much I've listed my favorites several times.

October 2014.
I'd like to do another version of this one...
"Top Ten Book Places I'd Like to Visit"

May 2015.
Have I ever met some great authors?!

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

  1. What a great tribute to TTT. I remember some of these posts. Others seem to be new to me. How great that you've read all those books you hadn't read in 2010. The link to your top ten words won't work for me.

  2. Thank you, Louise! I don't think there is any easier way to start writing than to begin with a list.

And, oops! I think I have corrected the link for top ten words.

  3. I really enjoy your take on each week's top ten list. So creative! I'm liking to participate off and on. Seem to be off right now, but I suspect I'll be on at some point. I do love reading what others have shared, based on the topic.

    1. I have actually made many of these lists in my journal entries in the past. I'm always writing down words I love. There is a great meme that is just about cool words called Wondrous Words. It's on Wednesday.

  5. You were able to cull your list down to ten? I kept going and couldn't stop myself until sixteen. What a fun opportunity to go back and take a look at my past posts. As per usual I am not only impressed by your list but by the way you present the list.

  6. I just reread the list of books you abhor and had a good chuckle. I can't remember if I ever did that post. I'll have to remember it for the next REWIND week. Ha!

  9. I loved the quotes from books and places books made me want to visit topics, too. I actually did name my son after a characetr from a book. Seth from Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (I'm sure he's glad his name isn't Babar, lol). Great list! PS - I hope you love The Ice-Cream Cone Coot as much as I do!

  11. Wasn't blogging yet, but (Nearly) Ten Unfortunate Character Names sounds like a fun topic! I think I put together some kind of favorite/memorable character name topic, but this one seems like it'd be more fun. ;)

  20. I've done a couple of these, but not many as I'm fairly new to TTT. I really want to do the characters to name kids after list, maybe I will the next time we have a freebie week. I chose to pick a topic from the archives this week as I haven't been doing TTT long enough to do this list, I did top ten favourite fictional couples. Check it out if you want:

  22. Let me encourage you to read (reread) God Went to Beauty School. I was in charge of doing a devotional at a church group I was part of and I forgot to prepare anything ahead of time but had the book in my purse so I pulled it out and read one of the poems. Everyone loved it. Not the deepest devotional anyone had heard before, but very fun. After the meeting a man on the committee asked if he could borrow the book for the next meeting he was hosting tomorrow. Ha!

  32. Read every part of this post! I couldn't leave without letting you know that I HIGHLY recommend the book 11/22/63 by Stephen King which isn't horror at all, but my favourite genre; timetravel. it is about a man who goes back in time to prevent the assassination of JFK, and the portal to the past is via a streamline diner. Love, love, LOVE this book!
