I've had a lot of picture books arrive in my mailbox this summer. I love picture books more than any other kind of book, I think, so I wanted to save them for as long as I can before reading them....I had a delicious day yesterday, reading and reviewing all of these wonderful picture books....
And...
So you can also enjoy some great children's picture books,

The Mailbox Continues to Be Full....
I don't remember another summer when I've received so many books...not that I'm complaining!
Here's what arrived last week: |
What are you reading today?
What is the Sunday Salon? Imagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.
The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.
Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.
Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.
Looks like some fun reading! I don't read many picture books, but I do love the covers of Journey and Quest and have a place to give them away when I'm done -- so sign me up for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love picture books too! And it looks like you've had a lot of wonderful ones come your way! Journey has been on my wishlist for a while, but I did not realize there was a "Quest" and a "Return". I'd love to be in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Picture books are such a delight! Thanks for sharing yours....and I'm also ogling The Telling. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHere are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Today I'm hoping to read some of Forever Rumpole by John Mortimer, a collection of short stories about the famous British barrister.
ReplyDeletePicture books are one of the things I'm looking forward to if I ever get grandkids!! :) Journey, Quest, and Return need to go into my hope chest! I had Journey but I sold it. Now I want my own copy!
ReplyDeleteI love picture books. These are so special and would provide hours of pleasure and enjoyment for my 4 grandchildren who visit me regularly and enjoy reading and picture books. These are ideal for their ages and are very beautiful. Thanks so much. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteJourney and Quest are amazing books which I would give as gifts to my grandson. He loves reading and these are a real treasure. Many thanks. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on Dark Matter as I enjoy Blake Crouch's work. Love the picture books! Hope you enjoy them! Here's my link: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/08/the-sunday-post-you-have-no-idea.html
ReplyDeleteMy first year of teaching I prepared an entire Gingerbread Man unit. As a class, we made gingerbread men, sold them, and gave the money to a needy family (I thought we might sell 100 or so.... we had pre-orders for 550!!).
ReplyDeleteIn addition, I read several different versions of the Gingerbread Man story and then students had to write their own original version. Such fun!
I no longer teach elementary school, but I still love Gingerbread Men stories - and one that takes place at a zoo sounds perfect!
What a treasure trove of children's books! I miss reading them now that my girls are all grown.
ReplyDeleteJourney is one of our favorite books. We don't have Quest or Return yet. Such imaginative and beautiful books. A Tiger Tail sounds so adorable! I've come to appreciate picture books more since I had my daughter. She's always telling me my books are "boring because they have no pictures". Haha I've been hearing good things about Dark Matter. I may have to look further into that one.
ReplyDeletehave a great week!
I think both Journey and Quest look great.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing Dark Matter everywhere- I haven't read Blake Crouch since I read the Wayward Pines stuff.
I love reading picture books with both my kids and my students. You never outgrow them!

ReplyDeleteMy son is starting to get really interested in books and I'm excited to share new ones with him.
ReplyDeleteI love picture books, too. I still have to read the Becker trilogy. It sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I am on the lookout for some great books for a 3 year old. We have exhausted and worn out Green Eggs and Ham and Are You My Mother!.
ReplyDeleteI love kiddiue books! Only wish my visiting grands understood English!~

ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're hosting giveaways on your blog. I only read kid books to my younger cousins, but they seem to love them! :P
ReplyDeleteWow, a picture book series. They are starting them young now days. I don't read many of them (pic books) anymore since my nieces & nephews are getting older.
ReplyDeleteJourney and Quest look like great stories! I would love to win them for my kids (and me, let's be honest).
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about Dark Matter. I hope you enjoy it!
I've been curious about Dark Matter. I'll be eager to read what you think of it. Here is my weekly report. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to read Dark Matter. That one looks intriguing. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOoh ooh ooh, I'd like to win! I love using wordless picture books with the kids at my programs - they're such brilliant writing prompts and really get the imagination fired up.
ReplyDeleteI need to finish all of Becker's trilogy. Sigh. We still need Quest and Return to complete the trilogy in our school library. In the meantime, thanks for the heads up about Dark Matter. I've just put it on hold at our local public library.
ReplyDeleteI am still struggling along with Out of Africa. It is so slow going for me, I actually think I may have to abandon it. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI checked our library over the weekend whether we already have Return - we still don't have it yet. Hopefully by month's end! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! What a lot of great picture books. They all look good. Thank you for hosting the giveaway. I would love to win any of the titles. I've heard such good things about Journey and the others in the series.
ReplyDeleteThese would make nice Christmas gifts for my boys.
