A Fabulous Reading Week: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, The Underground Railroad, Tuck Everlasting, and 98 Pounds of Books Arrive from BookExpo

My 98 pounds of books arrived home from BookExpo this week, and I've spent a huge chunk of time looking over what I brought home. Next week, I'll post my favorites from these boxes.

I'm still trying to come down from the BookExpo experience, though I'm not sure I really want to. BookExpo is a glorious place.

I'm slowly easing into my summer life of walking every morning, swimming at the Y, practicing my Spanish, and writing my book. I'm also enjoying my time with my family and friends. Summer!

I'm continuing to read a #bookaday this summer. Here's what I've read this week:

 Reviews to come soon.

Here's what arrived for me this week:

I'm reading this now. It's absolutely riveting.

How is your summer going? Are you reading anything you recommend?

What is the Sunday SalonImagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between!  This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.

    1. I got as close as I dared. You have to pay more if a box is over fifty pounds.

    1. I love it because it is nothing but books and authors and publishers and readers. Everyone is book-ish, and nothing else. A happy world.

  6. Of course I want to see everyone of your 98 pounds of books, but will have to settle for your favourites I guess ;-).

Oh and The Madeleine Project! I've never heard of this and am now immediately entranced. It's so up my alley, can't wait til September to get my hands on it.

  8. 98 pounds! Holy cow! I shipped home 35 pounds. Too bad we didn't run into each other. I'm reading Eleanor Oliphant now and it is delightful so far.

  9. Oh jeez, 98 lbs! That's like...three and a half of my toddler. Holy moly. I am so jealous of everyone who went to BookExpo. I'm hoping I get to go next year!

  14. Do you end up reading all the books that you tote home? I'm still working on some that I got at ALA in 2013. I'm just easing into summer but with lots of house stuff to do to keep me busy. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  15. Wow did they box & ship the books straight from BookExpo? That would be cool. 98 lbs! Sounds like a great time. I don't think I could finish a book per day, unless it was a kid's book. Man it takes me awhile! :-)

  16. I guess you had them shipped...LOL. The only time I went to BEA was in the LA version in 2008, before book blogging and serious acquisitions. I wasn't prepared and only brought back what I could carry. In the future, I would have taken a couple of rolling suitcases. Or prepared to ship them.

Enjoy! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
