Top Ten Favorite Heroines

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND sign Mister Linky at the bottom to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Don't worry if you can't come up with ten every time..just post what you can!

This week the topic is---Top Ten Favorite Heroines

She's proud of her country and proud to be "traditionally built."

(4) Pippi Longstocking

and do whatever you want?

(3) Anne of Green Gables

(2) Scarlett from Gone With the Wind
Scarlett is the one I want with me in our next hurricane.

And, finally,
(1) Meg from Wrinkle in Time, my all-time favorite heroine.
How tough it is to be smart in our world!

Who are your favorite book heroines?

  1. I need to re-read A Wrinkle In Time. Great heroines!

  2. Karen Murphy, a secondary but major character from Jim Butcher's the Dresden Files series.

I also really enjoyed Lisbeth Salander from Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy. Those books are everywhere now.

I also like the early Anita Blake from Laurell Hamilton's series. Anita got too sexed up for me later on.

Kinsey Millhone from Sue Grafton's Alphabet Mysteries has become a recent favorite. I'm on book 3 and counting!

Huh... I read a lot of series.

  3. I know it could cause the revocation of my Canadian citizenship, but Anne of Green Gables never did anything for me.

  4. You've got a bunch on this list that I haven't seen on any others - awesome! Pippi Longstocking's a fabulous choice, she's such a lot of fun!

    A Tapestry of Words

  5. How did I forget Stargirl!? I loved your list!

    - Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish

  6. Wow, I love this list. Scarlett, Anne, Charlotte, etc. Yes yes yes!All my favorites. I only read A WRINKLE IN TIME a couple of years ago but I have to say Meg is my latest favorite heroine!

  7. I will visit blogs tomorrow and see who everyone else chose.

  8. I love your list! Pippi, in particular, is a fabulous pick. It's been years since I've read some of those... must revisit!

  9. I love that Scarlett made it on your list--she is definitely one of my favorite heroines as well!

  10. Very creative and varied list...Meg, of course!, Anne, why didn't I think of her since I share her name?, Pippi, what a character. Good choices.

  11. We have a couple the same! I really love the No1 Ladies Detective Agency novels. They're so feelgood! Love your list, lots of wonderful female characters :)

  12. I really need to read A Wrinkle In Time! Pippi Longstocking was such a good choice!

  13. Thanks for including Precious from No. 1 Ladies- this book actually shocked me by how well-developed her character is. I should have thought of her for my list haha! I cried reading about her life and really admire her gumption for starting her own detective agency.

  14. Love the list- especially love the inclusion of Stargirl. One of my favorite girls :)

  15. I love Anne and Meg! They were both so spunky =) Great choices!

Thanks so much for hopping by my site! I hope you have a lovely weekend!

  16. I so wished that I was Stargirl as a youngster.
