Top Ten Favorite Heroines

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This meme was created because we are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list complete with one of our bloggers answers. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND sign Mister Linky at the bottom to share with us and all those who are participating. If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Don't worry if you can't come up with ten every time..just post what you can!

This week the topic is---Top Ten Favorite Heroines

(5) Precious Ramotswe in
No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
She's proud of her country and proud to be "traditionally built."

(4) Pippi Longstocking

and do whatever you want?

(3) Anne of Green Gables

(2) Scarlett from Gone With the Wind
Scarlett is the one I want with me in our next hurricane.

And, finally,
(1) Meg from Wrinkle in Time, my all-time favorite heroine.

  1. I need to re-read A Wrinkle In Time. Great heroines!

  2. Karen Murphy, a secondary but major character from Jim Butcher's the Dresden Files series.

I also really enjoyed Lisbeth Salander from Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy. Those books are everywhere now.

I also like the early Anita Blake from Laurell Hamilton's series. Anita got too sexed up for me later on.

Kinsey Millhone from Sue Grafton's Alphabet Mysteries has become a recent favorite. I'm on book 3 and counting!

Huh... I read a lot of series.

  3. I know it could cause the revocation of my Canadian citizenship, but Anne of Green Gables never did anything for me.

  13. Thanks for including Precious from No. 1 Ladies- this book actually shocked me by how well-developed her character is. I should have thought of her for my list haha! I cried reading about her life and really admire her gumption for starting her own detective agency.
