Best Books You've Read In 2017 So Far

This year, 2017, may be my best reading year ever. It is certainly promising; the year is only half over and I've already read 134 books, of which 45 were 4-star reads, and 43 were 5-star reads. That's a lot of good books.

Here are the best of what I've read so far in 2017:

One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia
Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Lyttle Lies: The Pudding Problem by Joe Berger
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

Schomburg: The Man Who Built a Library
D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths
March: Books One, Two, and Three by John Lewis
Stand Up and Sing: Pete Seeger, Folk Music, and the Path to Justice by Susanna Reich

Chemistry: A Novel by Weike Wang
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
Lincoln in the Bardo: A Novel by George Saunders
Homegoing: A Novel by Yaa Guasi
Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney

The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson
Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy by Anne Lamott
The Moth: 50 True Stories edited by Catherine Burns
The Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Homemade Fillings, Crusts, and Life
Letters of Note: Volume 2 by Shaun Usher
Atlas Obscura by Joshua Foer

Have you had a year like mine? Have you read some I haven't that you'd recommend? Please share them.

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

  1. I've had my eye on The Radium Girls for a while - it looks so interesting. Also excited to pick up The Moth, as I bought my copy a couple of months ago and haven't had time just yet!

Here's my TTT, if you'd like to visit.

  2. Lillian Boxfish and Homegoing made my list, too! I also see a few favorites from previous years. Excellent list!!

  3. Wow, you've had an amazing reading year so far! I love Everything I Never Told You, it was my favourite read of last year, and all these lists are reminding me I need to read The Hate U Give. I still need to read Homegoing, too - great list!

  4. Loved Eleanor, too! I need to check out some of your nonfiction. I always have a hard time finding nonfiction I like.

  5. Very pleased to see that I have quite a few of your picks waiting in my TBR stack :-)

  6. Wow, you`ve read an impressive amount of books. Congrats! I`m hoping to read The Hate U Give soon, heard fantastic things about it.

  7. Oh, I keep wondering whether or not I should read "Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk". I guess I really should at this point! And you intrigued me with both "Letters of Note" and "Atlas Obscura". Those look like lots of fun! Great list!

  8. Great list! I kept seeing Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine earlier this year...Perhaps I should check it out.

    My TTT

  9. Radium girls is on my TBR. I've heard lots of good things about it! Great List!!

  10. I love One Crazy Summer. My Mummy and Sister brought it back from a trip to New York. I sent them with a wishlist of American Kid Lit. ;)

  11. Great list, don't think I've read any of them yet :) but always good to find new books to add to my tbr list.

  12. Looks like you've read some spectacular books so far this year!!

Here's a link to my TTT post for this week:

  13. All of your nonfiction is on my TBR and I'd really like to read Lillian and Eleanor. They both sound wonderful. This year hasn't been my best year. I've read some good books but not many that have just been wow reads.

  14. Ohhhhh art of the pie!
Winter chill starting to creep in here, so a nice warm pie sounds just the thing!

  15. Homegoing is a great choice. I actually meant to put that on my list and forgot.

  16. I've had a very good reading year too! I loved The Hate U Give and Everything I Never Told You. Planning to read Homegoing and Just Mercy.

  17. You've got some great books on this list: Just Mercy is one of my favorites and I have Homecoming and the Underground Railroad sitting on my TBR shelf. I also agree with your YA choices. Have you read Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult? I just finished it and think it's really good.

  18. Hon, that's a lot of books. I'm averaging one to two a week,(nothing like your one a day) but it's summer vacation, and it will probably drop back when my semester starts in mid-July.

  19. I've been wanting to read I'll Give You the Sun forever. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. I will definitely be moving it up in my TBR to read it sooner rather than later. Fantastic list! Happy reading!

    Here's my Top Ten Tuesday!

  20. I'll Give You The Sun has been on my TBR for so long. There have been so many lovely comments about it! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^.^

  21. Lillian Boxfish looks like a novel I'd like. I'll put it on my list. I'm still meandering what would be my picks so far.

  22. Holy moly! You've read a ton of books this year! This is probably my worst, at least with regard to the numbers. Hopefully, things will pick up this winter when the rain arrives and I'm not wandering around on beaches and bluffs. :)
