Books That Give Off Autumn Vibes

Here's my fall:

See any orange? Red? Even brown? Nope. This is it for us.

Those of us who never get to experience fall may be the ones who most appreciate books about fall.

And some of the best sorts of books about fall are picture books.

Here are some new(ish) fall beauties you may want to share with others:

Lawrence in the Fall by Matthew Farina, illustrated by Doug Salati

A Fall Ball for All by Jamie A. Swenson, illustrated by Chiara Fedele

Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn written and illustrated by Kenard Pak

Hello, Fall! A Picture Book by Deborah Diesen, illustrated by Lucy Fleming

Fall Leaves by Loretta Holland, illustrated by Elly MacKay

Fall Mixed Up by Bob Razcka, illustrated by Chad Cameron

Because of an Acorn by Lola M. Schaefer, illustrated by Adam R. Schaefer

The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger

Autumn Babies by Katherine O. Galbraith, illustrated by Adela Pons

And don't miss these classic fall picture books:

Leaves by David Ezra Stein

Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves by Lucille Colandro

Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert

Do you have any favorite fall picture books I should add to my list?

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

  5. I'm sorry you don't get to see any fall colors! We don't have a lot here, but we got lucky and saw a lot on our recent road trip, especially up near Lake Tahoe and in Northern California.

  6. Like you, we don't get leaves changing here in southern California, but I do love a good crisp fall day. Maybe we'll actually get some this year. Sigh.

  7. No fall here except I have one neighbor with a maple tree and it has started to change colors. We don't typically have trees in California that change color so..

I miss all the fall picture books!

  8. I really enjoyed Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson and Red Leaf Yellow Leaf is also wonderful. Fall for us comes so quickly, just as I'm enjoying all of the beautiful colors, all the leaves have blown away from my trees leaving them looking like stick figures.

  9. Cute books!

I've only seen a few trees in Florida in the 30+ years I've lived here turn colors. I grew up in Ohio so I miss seeing fall colors.

  10. These all look like lovely little books about fall! And also the view of your backyard is very nice. I live in New England so I know full well how gorgeous autumn can be, but what I think everyone forgets is that it only lasts a week or two and then everything is brown and dead and awful. Sorry that’s depressing. I’ve just never understood the appeal of changing seasons! I’d much rather it be warm and sunny most of the time.

    1. That puts fall in a new perspective. Maybe I don't want a fall, after all.

  11. Sung to the tune of You Make Me Feel So Young:

    You make me feel like fall;
You make me feel like fall, y'all! LOL

  12. I couldn't find enough adult or YA books that I've read that I thought would fit this week's theme so I went off the board and list all the audiobooks I've read this fall.

  13. YES! ah I love this, because I live in central Texas and my fall looks exactly the same right now. So jealous of the yellow and red fall that so many people get to enjoy!

  14. I like that you chose some fall picture books. They’re so pretty! We have fall here, but it only lasts about a week before the snow comes.

Aj @ Read All The Things!
