Paris in July: J'aime Paris

It's the end of Week 3 in Paris in July. I tried to spend the week doing as many Parisian things as I could.

I read a lot of books about Paris last week:

I loved A Paris Year. Janice MacLeod spends a year in Paris and every day she writes and draws and takes photos of iconic and innovative Paris. It's a delight.

I was so intrigued about fireworks on Bastille Day in Paris that I had to see what I could find on YouTube. Look at this magnificence.

Bastille Day is on July 14th. Happy (belated) Bastille Day!

There's a little bit of Paris in Houston, Texas. We stopped by Macaron by Patisse on our anniversary. I picked Fleur de Sel (Salted Caramel), Cappuccino, and Lavender White Chocolate.

I took them home and put off actually eating them as long as I could. Aren't they lovely?

What it looks like to be in France when France wins the World Cup (Thank you, Mark Pryor):

This week I also spent time in my favorite spot in Paris:
Paris in July: My Favorite Place in Paris (No, It's Not What You Think)

And I spent a little time cooking some French bread:

How did you spend your week? Did you spend any time in Paris?

What is the Sunday SalonImagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between!  This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.

Please join the weekly meme at An Accidental Blog. Share with the rest of us your passion for France. Did you read a good book set in France? See a movie? Take a photo in France? Have an adventure? Eat a fabulous meal or even just a pastry? Or if you're in France now, go ahead and lord it over the rest of us. We can take it.

  2. Well, I'm spending time in the MIdwest, but reading a book set in Paris ... not as committed to the concept as you are! Good job...

  3. The illustrations in A Paris Year are so lovely. True story, my daughter and I went to Paris for her sweet 16 (about 7 years ago), and we were so excited to have this wonderful dinner party at Laudree. Well, right after we returned, we saw an announcement, that one was opening in NYC, about 30 mins from our home. I was disappointed, but excited that I would be able to get more of these delicious macarons.

  7. I love reading books set in Paris, since I probably won't get to the real Paris...sigh. I have this little "fear of long flights" thing. But then...maybe I'll get over it!

  8. Such lovely books about Paris! I spent time reading books, looking at photos from my trip to Paris a few years ago and dreaming of the lovely pastries! Next time I'm in Houston I will try to visit that shop. Maybe I will find a French Bakery near me! That's my goal for this week!

  10. A Paris Year sounds interesting. I've never been to Paris before, but I did go to a Christmas Market in France once, and had lunch in a little French café. It was a long time ago. Would love to go to Paris someday.

  12. We have a French bakery near my house. I get bread there and that’s all because it so expensive. I’d love to try the macaroons someday. They look so colorful and yummy. Have a great week and enjoy your Paris books!

  13. Love macaroons...
The only book I know is "Madame chic", but a "Paris Year" sounds delightful, will put it on my list of books to read. Enjoy your French books.

  14. You have done such a fabulous, and thorough, job of documenting things Parisienne. I fee like I took a vicarious vacation through your post(s). I am woefully behind (third week! Yikes!), but intent on finishing and posting on Annie Ernaux's memoir titled The Years. It is a fabulois book so far...

  15. Ah some amazing Paris reading still going on. I know what you mean about changing to WordPress, your blog would now be so big it wouldn't import, I met that problem and while it did do it up to a year ago, why I've transferred some stuff over manually. I know someone more techie literate would be able to do it differently, I am not that far advanced!

    1. I wonder how long it would take me to manually move over 1400 blog posts....
