Off to Paris in July

I don't have much to say about my week. Life has been so bleak here in the US that I hope you will forgive me but I'm leaving to spend a month in Paris and I'm heading out early. Today, in fact.

What do I plan to do during my month (plus possibly a few extra weeks) in Paris?

LEARN FRENCH
I broke down and bought a lifetime subscription to all languages (24 to choose from) at Rosetta Stone this week, and I've been working on my French. I'm also listening to Learn French with Paul Noble (on Hoopla). I've enjoyed using both Rosetta Stone and Learn French with Paul Noble in the past.

COOK FRENCH
I have several French cookbooks here, and I'm already working on a pork loin from one of them for dinner tonight.

DRAW FRENCH
I've been drawing every day for a month or so. I plan to put a French spin on my drawings.

WATCH FRENCH MOVIES
I hope to check out some French movies from my library. I have access to Kanopy through my library also, and there are at least three classic French movies on Kanopy that I have never seen.

LISTEN TO FRENCH MUSIC
Ah, French music. Perfect for daily yoga, I think.

PUT TOGETHER A FRENCH JIGSAW PUZZLE
Jigsaw puzzles have been a comfort during my homestay of late. How about a French jigsaw puzzle

GOING THROUGH MY PHOTOS FROM MY TRIP TO PARIS LAST WINTER
Looking through Paris photos is wonderfully uplifting. Visiting Paris last winter was a happy time. Before all of this.

READ FRENCH
My favorite part of Paris in July is always reading books set in France. What books have I requested? Nonfiction, including The Whole Fromage; The Age of Comfort; Bonjour, Happiness; The Seven Ages of Paris; Vanished Smile. Children's books, including Zarafa, the Giraffe Who Walked to the King; Paris-Chien; King Louie's Shoes; A Dash of Magic. A graphic novel called Pablo. Cookbooks, including Barefoot in Paris. Adult fiction including French Pastry Murder; French Exit; The Chocolate Touch.

Come along with me, if you'd like.
I'm not terribly sure I'm ever coming back home.
It's lovely here in Paris.

What have you been doing this week?

I'm happy you found your way to the Sunday Salon. There are no requirements for linking up at Sunday Salon. Sunday Salon is simply a place for us to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. Sunday Salon is a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

Some of the things we often talk about at the Sunday Salon:
  • What was your week like?
  • Read any good books? Tell us about them.
  • What other bookish things did you do?
  • What else is going on in your life?

Other places where you may like to link up over the weekend are below. Click on the picture to visit the site.

My linkup for Sunday Salon is below.

  1. Are you really going to Paris? Or in your mind? I'm confused ha. Whichever it is I hope it works. I'd love to learn French but it seems tough to me. I just finished A Bookshop in Berlin .... which is quite interesting b/c it's mostly set in Vichy France during WWII .... I think you'd like it -- what a story.

  2. You and I are on the same page: Paris in July! I just linked my "can't wait" post to your Sunday Salon, just to keep in sync with you. I hope that's ok! I love your plans. Mine are a bit different, but are intended to keep to the same effect of cheering up in lockdown.

    be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    1. I'm happy you linked up. Blogger does not have good ways of keeping up with other bloggers, and a link up is an easy way to see what others are doing.

  7. Too bad you can't really go to France. Oh, that's right, we can't enter Europe! Ugh. I love your plan to "be in Paris" for the next month or so. It sounds delightful and I am glad to see The Pink Panther movies are on your list.

  11. For a minute, I thought how great! Then I realized it is a virtual trip, but that's okay, too. Whatever takes us away from this horrible place where we live.

    Enjoy your escape.

  14. Sounds like a fabulous idea! I should ask my kids where they'd like to spend July, and have them do the homework for our trip :) And a jigsaw puzzle always looks so fun. I'm afraid my cats are going to steal the pieces when I open the one I got.

  18. Living in the province of Quebec, I speak, read and write French on a regular basis. One of my favorite French movies is Les Intouchables (The American version is The Upside) but I loved the French version best. I watched it on Netflix but not sure if they have it available in the US Netflix. In July I will escape to Italy with books. :-)

  19. I can't believe it's already time for Paris in July! I need to peruse my shelves, but I'm afraid I've read all my Paris-related books. I may just have to spend the entire month cooking from Julia and Jacques' cookbook. I can throw French Kiss in the movie mix, too. Enjoy your virtual get-away!

  24. That is such a cool idea!! While I already have a plan for July, maybe I will hop in for a day or two to Paris!!
And I am hoping to get more drawing done this month as well, and really get into bookstagramming (move from aspiring to actually doing!!)

  25. What a fun idea. I'm starting to immerse myself in beach reads. I don't like sand so a beach trip via books is pretty perfect for me.

  26. Fun fantasy trip! Sorry you don't get to do the real thing...:( Our planned anniversary trip to Ireland in August got rescheduled to 2021. Now we're hoping to do a road trip instead. Well, I'll have to pick out some good audiobooks for that trip if we get to go! For ones we both will like, I usually end up with science fiction short stories or a book of humorous stories.
