Seropurulent \ ˌsir-ō-ˈpyu̇r-ə-lənt\
"He...wanted to sputter Seropurulent! which had been an ironic superlative they used in med school for terrible things that had to be overlooked."
From The Portable Veblen by Elizabeth Mckenzie.
To illustrate seropurulent, I'm sharing a photo of my husband and me that expresses the delight, the joy, the euphoria we felt after we received our first vaccine. At the same time, we must, for this moment, overlook the sadness that not everyone has been able to get a vaccine yet and the possibility that the immunity we now have will be short-lived or will not be conferred upon new strains of the virus.
Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme where you can share new words that you’ve encountered, or spotlight words you love. Feel free to get creative! It was first created by Kathy over at Bermuda Onion and is now hosted at Elza Reads.

What an interesting word, I'm always happy to learn new ones.
ReplyDeleteI also loved your photo. Congrats on receiving your first vaccination. We're still a long way down the list over here. Wish it were soon. But I'm happy for everyone who has it.
Have a good day!
What a wonderful world! Perfect choice in your use of it and a wonderful photo. That's how I felt, too. Just full of joy!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S one I had never heard of! Congratulations on receiving the vaccine. My husband and I felt similar joy on receiving ours.
ReplyDeleteCongrasts! Great news! and thanks for sharing a new (to me) word!
ReplyDeleteDo I say I am seropurulent for you too?
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you got your vaccine. Hopefully you can get out a bit more now!
Thanks for participating in WWW, Debs. Life is beyond hectic on my side at the moment. Have holidays in 3 weeks, will hopefully calm down a bit then.
Fun word! And what a great photo of the two of you. I'm jealous of your warm-weather attire. Hooray for your first vaccinations! I worry about all my Texas friends and am glad you were able to get your first shot. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI should have taken your wonderful picture and explanation for this amazing word, at face value - but no! I decided to go and check it out for myself and came across some pretty gruesome images with needles drawing blood and various other bodily fluids. Now, I have to explain that I am completely needle-phobic, so you can imagine the state I am in now :)
ReplyDeleteHubbie has an underlying health condition so he got his first jab three weeks ago. I got my first one on Saturday, although I have had some weird reaction to it and got very severe 'flu like symptoms (that's the needle getting its revenge because I wouldn't look at it). Feeling a bit better today and pleased that they are making us wait 12 weeks between the first and second doses, so that I have time to steel myself for the next round!
Thanks for sharing and I hope that all is well with you both :)
Yvonne xx
I love to be reminded of the grossness of medical students, which is obviously one of the ways they cope with the inhuman situations they have to learn to deal with. Medical people have been severely challenged this year, and I hope their use of such a word helped them survive in this icky world.
ReplyDeletebe safe... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I'm so happy for you two that you were able to get the vaccine :D
ReplyDeleteGood word. Now I will have to look up how to pronounce it. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture of you guys.
ReplyDeleteWe did a happy feet dance out of the elevator!
ReplyDeleteGreat word and picture! That's wonderful you guys got your vaccine! I'm still waiting to get an appointment but I'm hopeful that this week I may be able to find one.
