Planning Out My Reading in a Journal, Keeping a Reading Log, and Annie Can Read

We've been friends forever...more than thirty years...and some of us wanted to get together for the birthday of our friend, Peggy. We are all vaccinated, and boosted. But, still, should we meet in a restaurant?

I thought about it, and thought about it. Finally, I decided to pop in for a bit with my N95 mask.

What I Read:
Prince Caspian by C. S. Lewis (Narniathon)
How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino (Japanese Literature Challenge)
Joan is Okay by Weike Wang (Fiction)
Winter in Wartime by Jan Terlouw (1001 Children's Books You Must Read)

What I'm Reading:

Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants
by Robin Wall Kimmerer (Naturalist Book Club)
The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton (Classics Club)
Gastro Obscura: A Food Adventurer's Guide (Nonfiction)
The Everything Guide to C. S. Lewis Narnia Book by Jon Kennedy (Narniathon)
Bibliophile: Diverse Spines by Jamise Harper (Books-about-Books)
Another Year of Wonder: Classical Music for Everyday by Clemency Burton Hill (Nonfiction)
Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers (Fiction)

Two things are really working for me this year, reading-wise.

One is planning out my reading by month in my journal. Note: I use a pencil.

The second is keeping a reading log (borrowed from Book Riot) in addition to my Goodreads list. The reading log keeps statistics for me that I can access any time, and I love seeing these. I've linked my reading lot to the graphic below.

Last week I posted here at Readerbuzz:

Good Thing #1, #2, and #3

My granddaughter, Annie, is reading!

I'm happy you joined us here at the Sunday Salon. Sunday Salon is a place to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. It's a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

Some of the things we often talk about at the Sunday Salon:

  • What was your week like?
  • Read any good books? Tell us about them.
  • What other bookish things did you do?
  • What else is going on in your life?

Other places where you may like to link up over the weekend are below. Click on the picture to visit the site.

  1. I hope you had a nice time at your friend's birthday celebration. I've been thinking about how to approach my daughter's birthday which is next month.

I keep a reading log spreadsheet but am also trying Book Riot's this year. Double the entry, but I actually really like the Book Riot one so may stick to that.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  2. My hope is we'll all start to feel better about getting together as time passes.

Hooray for your Granddaughter! She's off on a life journey of reading adventure.
