I Luxuriate in Paris

PARIS IN JULY: THE FIRST WEEK

It's the end of the first week in Paris in July. What a wonderful time I've had in Paris so far. No expensive hotels, no trouble speaking to the locals, no jet lag. This is the way to travel.

What have I experienced this week?

I've read and reviewed these picture books:

I've read and reviewed these books for grownups:

I've got this tv series ready to go:

Maigret, a French detective series, based on the books by Georges Simenon

I've posted my first photos from Paris.

What will I do this week? I have lots more books to read.

What is the Sunday SalonImagine some university library's vast reading room. It's filled with people--students and faculty and strangers who've wandered in. They're seated at great oaken desks, books piled all around them, and they're all feverishly reading and jotting notes in their leather-bound journals as they go. Later they'll mill around the open dictionaries and compare their thoughts on the afternoon's literary intake....That's what happens at the Sunday Salon, except it's all virtual. Every Sunday the bloggers participating in that week's Salon get together--at their separate desks, in their own particular time zones--and read. And blog about their reading. And comment on one another's blogs. Think of it as an informal, weekly, mini read-a-thon, an excuse to put aside one's earthly responsibilities and fall into a good book. Click here to join the Salon.

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news and recap the past week.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at The Printed Page. We share books that we found in our mailboxes last week.
It is now being hosted here.

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews in which you can share the books you've acquired.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between!  This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from! I love being a part of this and I hope you do too! It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is now being hosted at The Book Date.

Please join the weekly meme at An Accidental Blog. Share with the rest of us your passion for France. Did you read a good book set in France? See a movie? Take a photo in France? Have an adventure? Eat a fabulous meal or even just a pastry? Or if you're in France now, go ahead and lord it over the rest of us. We can take it.

    1. If I use the library, they are certainly the least expensive, too!

  2. You've had a great week of reading/travel! Sadly, I tried 4 of the books from my stacks and none of them were able to grab my attention. I have finally settled on Julia Child's *My Life In France,* which I'm enjoying quite well, so far.

    Have a great week, Deb!

    1. I hope that one works for you. I hate it when I can't settle on a book.

  3. I have read a few books set in Paris this year, like Paris Ever After, by KSR Burns. Reading about Paris works for me; we get to avoid all the packing and unpacking at the end. But you did both, didn't you?

Thanks for visiting my blog...and I wish you could check my phone, too, although after talking to several tech support people (the actual store had been robbed, so I couldn't go there!), it is now working for a few minutes at a time. LOL

    Enjoy your week!

  4. Yes... I'm a fan of long-distance travel via the library. In fact I regularly travel through time and space, too:). I hope your Parisian travels continue to be charming and engrossing during this coming week, Deb!

  5. Books are a fun way to travel. It’s cool that you’re focusing so much on 1 city. You’ll be an expert on it soon. Have a good week!

  7. Your badge for the "reverse" read-a-thon intrigues me. Can you un-read a book? Read it from back to front?

You are definitely out-reading the rest of us for Paris in July!

  9. I saw the title of your post and thought that you must have had a spa day in Paris last time! I laughed when I saw how you were luxuriating... I'll have to have a look at your reviews. I'm hopeful for Lisette's Paris Notebook- the author is Australian, and I've read a few of her books.

  16. That sure is a line up of Paris books read. As Charlotte Nash is Australian her books are here in NZ. I think I may have read one of hers. I don't go mad for Paris like many but I have read The Paris Bookshop and one written by Jenny Colgan The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris.

  23. Wow, you have been busy with a lot of reading. Wonderful. Sounds like a good set of books to get to know Paris a little bit more. I think I will go for the "sizzling" book. I love to read about that time.
