BookExpo is cancelled for 2021. No one knows if it will return. Very sad.

Publisher Simon & Schuster is reportedly being bought by Penguin Random House for $2,000,000,000, resulting in what The New Republic calls "an industry-dominating behemoth."

I'm participating this year in the 11th Annual Broke & Bookish Secret Santa.

I posted:

Take a look at the Do Good December calendar. You can print it out here.

We put up our Christmas tree oh-so-early this year. We've also ordered all our Christmas gifts. In past years, we've often shopped on December 23rd, so this is amazing for us.

Good Thing #3...Year of Wonders: Classical Music for Every Day

I'm delighted you made your way to the Sunday Salon. Sunday Salon is a place for us to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week, and it's a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

Some of the things we often talk about at the Sunday Salon:
  • What was your week like?
  • Read any good books? Tell us about them.
  • What other bookish things did you do?
  • What else is going on in your life?

Other places where you may like to link up over the weekend are below. Click on the picture to visit the site.

  1. So eager for the new "Äll Creatures" series on PBS! It's been years since I read that.

I need to do present inventory. I fear I'm behind the game!

  2. I LOVE your Christmas themed background. Very festive. As a matter of fact, I love everything about this post. Thanks for putting in the time and work it took to bring it together!

  3. I have fond memories of the All Creatures Great and Small series on PBS. I'm not sure how to feel about their plans to reboot it. I love that list of classical music for every day. That is indeed a very good thing.

  4. Lovely tree Deb. I love those quotes especially the Michelle Obama one. So many times this year in the news I though - if only everyone thought that way, what a beautiful world it would be.

  6. I read all of the James Herriot books when I was in High School, and I am so excited for the PBS series on All Creatures Great and Small coming January 10. Your tree looks so nice, we still have to buy one, and I’m so impressed you have your presents purchased!

  7. Your classical music list is really appealing. I haven't been listening to enough music lately. Should definitely look for Beethoven quartets.

  9. I love your new Christmas header and your tree is beautiful! We put our tiny tree up and went to see some Christmas lights a few days ago, which helped a little to get me in the Christmas spirit, but I'm still feeling a bit "humbugish."

I meant to sign up for the Secret Santa but I didn't know our new address when I first thought about it then I forgot about it. Oh well. I hope you have fun with it!

    Enjoy your week!

  11. Your tree is beautiful, Deb. We kept our tree up all year this year. I am not sure my husband will agree to it this next year though. LOL It's been kind of fun. We exchanged the stuffed animals in the branches for Christmas decorations last weekend. Now it's more Christmas-y. Like you, all my Christmas shopping is done. I've made a habit of doing most of my Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving for years now because I often would have to mail presents--and getting those out earlier than later is always wise. I am still waiting on a couple more packages, which should be arriving this week.

I hope you have a great week! Take care and stay safe.

  12. So good to catch up. I've been so overwhelmed that I needed to take a blogging break. I'll be back next week!
    Your Christmas tree is beautiful.

  13. I love your Christmas header! I do hope to get to changing mine before Christmas is upon us! I've just went to go and see where my copy of All Creatures Great and Small is. No idea. My books are in such a mess. Hopefully, when we start renovating in the new year, I can start sorting them out!

I saw that Kindness Calendar. It is lovely. Your tree is gorgeous! Elza would love it!!

I didn't get to a Sunday Post, busy busy week. Hopefully this week will be a whole lot better.

    Have a wonderful week!

  14. We are in lockdown so many seasonal events have been cancelled, I was so looking forward to them. Normally we go away for the winter/Christmas so we don't decorate. This year I have put up a few things.

Are you going to read the rest of the All Creatures Great and Small series?highly recommend it.

I'm not jazzed to hear about Simon & Scuster joining with Penguin Random House. I'm not a fan of monopolies, which is what they're getting close to having.

Your tree looks lovely. Unfortunately, we haven't had a tree in years because of one old cat, who would just knock things down...

  23. What a lovely tree! We don’t put ours up til the children have finished school for the year so they can all do it together, which is the 16th. It’s increasingly tricky to find the space for it though.
Love the Christmas header, a reminder I need to add my Xmas background to my blog
It’s been years since I read the book, but I’ve been watching the new All Creatures Great and Small on PBS. I think you’d enjoy it

  25. Your tree looks so pretty!

Is it kind of scary having one publisher suck up all the other publishers? I don't like one company deciding what books we're all going to be reading. I guess we will have to wait and see how it all works out.

I've never read the book but do plan to watch All Creatures... on PBS Masterpiece!

Haha I had a bad experience with a Secret Santa type swap. Except it was for Valentine's Day. We were encouraged to direct the person who was sending us the bookish gifts to our Wish List. I did. The person ended up sending me books that SHE thought I might enjoy and ones that had been gifted to her that she wanted to pass along to me. None of the books were my cup of tea. LOL

  27. I wish I could put my tree up early, but I like getting a natural one, and our house is very warm and full of pets, so if I put it up now it might not even make it till Christmas. I am contemplating throwing up some lights though.

  28. Such a beautiful tree! Glad you got all your shopping in and tree up early. Great things to be thankful for! I picked up the Novel Cure a few years ago at the library and looked at some highlights but I never was able to finish it before I had to take it back. But I've always wanted to get back to it. I hope you like it.

I hope you have a lovely week!

  30. It's very sad that Book Expo may not return. I've never been, but I know many bloggers who have enjoyed it for many years. :(

I love your festive new header, but am wondering how this Christmas (of all Christmases!) managed to sneak up on me. It will be here two weeks from Friday. Gah! I suppose I'm ready, although I'd like to do a little baking for neighbors/friends. We'll see how the next week or so goes. Our tree went up early, too. I have ordered all of our Christmas gifts and am feeling guilty for not shopping locally, but I am not going inside any stores other than our grocery store. I've bought puzzles, Sees candy, books, and clothes all online, but at least I don't have to wrap and ship from the Post Office or UPS. Everything will go direct from the vendor (thankful for gift wrap options!). Now to decide if I want to send any cards. What can I possibly say other than, "What a year!"
