Top Ten Tuesday was created by
The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each Tuesday That Artsy Reader Girl assigns a topic and then post her top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join her and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

  1. OOoh nice!! I didn't realize one could have so many different library cards! I always thought you had to live in that area/county or whatever in order to get one! That's crazy!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. I first heard about one's ability to get a New York City Library card just by asking for one. I've since tried to get one at any library I have visited. Including the library in Florence, Italy.

  3. I think you win. LOL I am most impressed that you gave up TV!!! I love all the library cards. Both you and the other little girl are too cute in that newspaper photo! Are you the one sitting or standing? I'm guessing sitting but I'm probably wrong.

    1. Yep, that is me in the chair. I towered over the other children in my class, so I had to sit.

  6. Lovely! You set a high bar. I didn't learn to read until the ripe old age of three, and you found Cybils and Deweys years before I did. I love the costumes too. I'm not sure what my middle schoolers would think but I'm tempted to put together my own Super Reader costume for dress up days. And, you know, going to the library. :)

    1. You definitely should do it. I inspired one of my fellow librarians who teaches at the junior high to make her own
book-ish attire, and the kids loved it.

    1. Yes, but I would have to drive 2,275 miles to check out a book from the Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon.

  8. I adore Little Free Libraries, so thank you for providing so many for your community. Also, I didn't realize you could get library cards all over like that. I'll have to remember that next time I travel. I'll for sure have to get one for the library by my son's house when I visit.

    1. Yes, it is certainly worth asking about. The Chicago Public Library wanted an address, so I had to pass on that one. Darn!

I haven't watched TV since last February. Too many fun things to read.

  12. I have numerous library cards and use all of them regularly. I forged a card application when I was about 6 years old. My mom was "unavailable" and I desperately wanted to check out a book so I forged her name to get the library card. it worked.

  18. How and why do you have library cards from other states. Do they send you books?Right before the coronavirus epidemic closed our libraries and hustled over and checked out nine books. I love my public library. What a bargain. Books for free! I am a book lover

    1. I first got a card from another state when someone told me that anyone could get a NYC library card for free. Why not? I thought, so I applied and got one. From then on, I always apply at any library I visit. It's just fun for me to collect them.
